POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Environmental Sustainability, as the senior most expert within the company, develops and executes Cencora's global environmental strategy, which is focused on resilient and sustainable operations. This strategic leader shapes the company's long-term sustainability goals, guiding cross-functional initiatives to integrate sustainability practices across all business functions. The Director leads initiatives around emission reduction, waste management, sustainable buildings, climate risks, and environmental reporting, resulting in impactful outcomes.
By engaging internal and external stakeholders, the Director drives continuous improvement in complex data processes and progress towards Science Based Targets. Additionally, the Director educates senior management on strategies to secure resources, which requires a track record of strategic leadership and operational execution. Additional Responsibilities
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Preferred training in Sustainability, Corporate Responsibility or related field through a four (4) -year bachelor's degree program, advanced degree a plus;
Requires a minimum of seven (7) ore more years of related experience.
Experience in CDP reporting preferred.
Additional experience with GRI and GHG reporting protocols also preferred.
MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Strong understanding of Sustainability best practice and trends; strong working knowledge of CDP, DJSI, TCFD and other ESG rankings/ratings.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent presentation skills; especially to present complex, technical topics to a non-technical audience at all levels.
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
Strong ability to work across teams and functions.
Ability to facilitate a positive work environment.
Demonstrated ability to plan and manage projects.
Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
Strong decision-making skills; demonstrated ability regarding initiative and being pro-active.
Ability to influence and bring forth new ideas.
Strong proficiency with MS Office suite of products; strong aptitude with technology tools and applications.
Strong aptitude to create, edit and manage complex data files.
