VetJobs and Military Spouse Jobs are dedicated to supporting military-affiliated job seekers by providing professional career readiness and job placement services. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Grant Writing Specialist to join our team.
This role involves identifying and pursuing grant opportunities, building relationships with potential funders, and crafting compelling proposals to secure funding for our organizations' initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have exceptional research, writing, and organizational skills and a passion for supporting the VetJobs and Military Spouse Jobs mission.
Responsibilities
Research & Identification: Conduct thorough research to identify potential grant opportunities that align with the organization’s mission and programs.
Grant Preparation: Assist in preparing grant applications, including writing and editing proposals.
Analysis & Advisory: Analyze legislation, regulations, and funding trends to provide insights on potential grant opportunities and associated risks.
Database Management: Maintain an organized database of grant opportunities, submissions, and outcomes.
Collaboration: Work with team members to gather necessary information and documents for grant proposals.
Tracking & Monitoring: Monitor and track grant deadlines and requirements to ensure timely submissions.
Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the grant writing team as needed.
Training Compliance: Complete annual program-specific PII and technology training.
Independent Work: Demonstrate the ability to work independently while achieving required outcomes.
Professional Communication: Maintain professional communication with team members and management.
Thoroughness & Timeliness: Ensure that all work is completed thoroughly and within reasonable deadlines, including invoices, reports, meeting requirements, and other necessary documentation or communication.

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Proven experience in grant writing, with a strong track record of successful grant applications preferred.
Excellent research, writing, and editing skills.
Strong organizational and project management abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficient in G-Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and database management preferred.
Familiarity with grant databases and research tools preferred.
Knowledge of the military community is required.
Knowledge of mission relevant legislation and funding trends a plus.
Portfolio of prior grant work is a plus but not required.
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field or equivalent workforce experience preferred.
MUST BE MILITARY-AFFILIATED.
