This position is located in Jacksonville, FL. Remote candidates will be considered for those living greater than 50 miles from our Jacksonville location.
Position Summary: As Joint Use & Permitting Specialist, you will coordinate with outside plant network engineering and construction partners to ensure all permits and pole applications are accurate, complete, and submitted on time. These submissions require approval from municipalities, pole owners, and other reviewing bodies to maintain IQ Fiber’s network construction schedule. You will keep detailed project plans, provide timely responses to inquiries from team members and senior leaders, and focus on tracking make-ready costs, work, timeframes, and pole release dates.
This position is crucial to the successful implementation of the IQ Fiber network build. You will have extensive knowledge of outside plant network construction and an understanding of permits required for both aerial and buried cable installations. Working closely with the design team and construction partners, you'll keep fiber-optic build projects on track by managing and expediting the permit process. You'll collaborate with engineers, architects, and design staff to ensure permit applications are complete and accurate, preventing costly delays.
Additionally, you will maintain a forward-looking approach, partnering with the Project Management team to forecast permitting needs 12 - 18 months ahead of construction.
Key Responsibilities:
Overseeing the accurate, timely, and complete submissions of all permits and requests for permissions to municipalities, pole owners, and all other reviewing bodies not to impede the IQ Fiber network build plan of record.
Maintaining detailed project plans and reports to inform accurate responses to inquiries from team members and reviewing bodies to prevent procedural delays.
Create and maintain permitting project plans that align with the overall network build plan, ensuring timely approvals and permissions are in place and on schedule to support an uninterrupted sequencing of work for our construction partners to meet or exceed the IQ Fiber deployment plan
Daily tracking of the make-ready process and steps required to achieve the most efficient way possible to obtain attachment approval.

Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Experience with permitting agencies and processes such as state departments of transportation (DOT), local municipalities, and private right-of-way owners
Experience with outside plant (OSP) engineering and construction processes, specifically processes involving the placing of aerial, underground, and buried telecommunications facilities
Strong leadership, project management, and organizational skills
Innovative, strategic thinker and decision maker
Strong problem-solving and execution skills in driving transformation and change
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience managing large multi-state projects
Extensive experience in the make-ready process and tracking step-by-step process through release
Familiar with JUMS (GA Power joint use management system). NJUNS (National Joint Utilities Notification System)
Experience working with municipalities and utility partners
Experience managing construction partnerships and other key vendor relationships
Lead and execute multiple, simultaneous business transformation and process changes
