Job description

Are you a Manufacturing Professional looking for a challenging opportunity to drive Quality Management System improvement and simplification for your local region while working with Quality Managers across the globe?  If so, this could be a great position to explore.

As the Lab Applications Business Lead, you will be responsible for providing the interface between laboratory applications users and Tech to ensure that business user requirements are understood by Tech and that proposed Tech solutions meet the needs of the business.  You will ensure best use of the laboratory applications by the users, for example, by leading business change activities, authoring global standard operating procedures, and facilitating training to the site SMEs. You will also lead initiatives to improve the current laboratory applications that will fill unmet needs of the business. In this role you will need to establish effective working relationships with the key contacts of the assigned project teams and stakeholders, to ensure GSK’s product quality and reputation is protected and to support the implementation of the laboratory applications to the GSC sites.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Collaborate with end users and IT to develop global business processes for laboratory operations that are supported by IT systems, e.g., LIMS and CDS, and lead business changes and system training of lead users.
  • Use expertise in one or more laboratory applications (such as LIFT, LES or Empower) to find ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of automated laboratory processes to reduce customer costs, improve the user experience and improve Quality understanding and performance.
  • Provide expert advice and support to PSC sites on the business processes supporting the PSC Quality IT Strategy, to achieve consistent application of business processes and systems and to share best practice via Communities of Practice and other means.
  • Ensure that the process and automated solutions satisfy quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify risks/technical issues and work with Tech and users to find and implement mitigations.
  • Consult the processes for laboratory data management including data formatting, data cleansing, standardization and analysis and facilitate business change when needed.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, Science, or an engineering discipline, OR 5+ years of experience working in a GMP Laboratory.
  • Experience with the application of Quality Systems in manufacturing, warehousing and distribution. 

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Expert user for one or more applications including chromatography data systems (such as Empower) and laboratory information management systems (such as LIFT or LES)
  • Experience in pharmaceutical GMP laboratory testing activities
  • Ability to analyze complex data/information/scenarios and make rational, risk-based decisions which are communicated and/or escalated clearly and confidently. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work across the organization and interact/influence/negotiate effectively at all levels of management and peers.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with tight timelines.
  • Must be flexible, adaptable and a strong team player.
  • Skilled in influencing at more junior and more senior levels in the organization.
  • Ability to travel and work independently.
  • Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing experience; Black Belt or Green Belt desirable
