Job Description:
The Director of Global Student Engagement is responsible for advancing international student recruitment efforts and driving strategic growth initiatives across the System. The position oversees all recruitment-related activities, including the development and maintenance of effective partnerships and prospective student engagement activities, including prospective international student leads, inquiries, and the completeness of prospective international student applications to achieve student enrollment goals. The Director will maintain collaborative working relationships with institutional leadership to align international strategies with System goals in leading the end-to-end international student recruitment and engagement process.
Reporting to the System’s Vice President of Global Engagement, the Director of Global Student Engagement supervises the Global Student Recruiters and Global Student Ambassadors.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead international student recruitment activities by implementing international student recruitment and engagement plans within agreed budgets and deadlines.
Work with the Vice President, Global Engagement to achieve international student recruitment goals and international recruitment and engagement strategy across the System.
Act as the primary liaison for international recruitment initiatives, collaborating with college leads to maximize enrollment efforts including advisement on current trends and evolving international student enrollment trends.
Oversee and manage Global Engagement’s international admissions processes, ensuring smooth transitions and coordination across institutions.
Monitor and report on the admissions funnel, tracking inquiries and applications, including document collection, and adjust strategies accordingly to meet enrollment goals.
Collaborate with Marketing teams to enhance recruitment and engagement strategies through digital campaigns and outreach.
Manage partnerships with external agents and stakeholders to drive international student engagement.
Provide training to staff involved in international recruitment and admissions processes to ensure consistency and excellence in international student engagement.
Serve as the Responsible Officer (ARO) for J-1 Exchange Visitor SEVIS reporting and institutional DSO, including the System’s resource for information regarding the interpretation and application of Department of Homeland Security, Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services, and Department of State regulations about international students and scholars.
Regularly evaluate and report on international recruitment and engagement performance, making data-driven decisions to enhance conversion rates and enrollment growth.
Responsible for the recruitment, training, and performance management of Global Student Recruiters, and Global Student Ambassadors.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Global Engagement.
Position Qualifications:
Master’s degree. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Five or more years of professional experience in higher education.
Three or more years’ experience in international recruitment and agent relationships.
Proven ability to work with leaders in the public and private sectors.
Proven track record in developing and leading strategic growth initiatives related to international student recruitment and agent network development.
Experience in developing and leading a global workforce preferred.
Position Requirements:
Expertise in international activities including international partnership development, international recruitment, admissions, and international student engagement and retention.
Ability to negotiate and manage complex contracts, and develop and maintain partnership agreements on local, provincial, national, and international levels.
Knowledge of academic programming available to international students.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across a wide range of constituencies in diverse communities.
Professional demeanor and goal-oriented in approach.
Ability to address complex issues with solid recommendations.
Willingness and availability to travel domestically and internationally.
Compensation & Benefits
This opportunity is budgeted at $100,000 - 110,000 base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
