Job Title: VP, Corporate Controller

THE OPPORTUNITY:
At Salesloft, our VP, Corporate Controller will be pivotal to our company’s success. You will be a key leader of our growing and high-performing accounting team. Salesloft continues to balance a focus on growth and intentional investments with best-in-class operations and compliance. This role will oversee all of our external financial reporting, technical accounting, and the development and application of our accounting policies. The VP, Corporate Controller will lead a high-achieving team comprised of revenue accounting, corporate accounting, billing and collections, procurement, and payroll functions.
On a day-to-day basis, you will be a key financial leader and strategic partner, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and process optimization while supporting the company’s broader operational and strategic goals. Specifically, you will:
- Oversee the financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, analyzing results, identifying key trends, and providing insights to senior leadership.
- Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and drive financial integrity.
- Manage audits and tax compliance efforts, serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors.
- Partner with FP&A and business leaders to ensure accurate forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling, integrating accounting data into broader company financial planning.
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency in accounting operations, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions, M&A activities, and policy changes to support business decisions.
- Motivate and inspire the Salesloft accounting team, embrace servant leadership.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented VP, Corporate Controller to maintain financial integrity, compliance, and operational efficiency at Salesloft. You will lead financial reporting, internal controls, and process optimization, ensuring scalability and GAAP compliance. As the organization continues to grow and evolve, its financial risk profile will also evolve, and this individual will lead the company’s proactive efforts in establishing policy, and ensuring adherence to policy, while building on the Company’s existing financial reporting and corporate consolidation processes. This individual will work closely with the Company’s valuation service providers, and be a key leader and point of contact for all financial statement auditors.

THE TEAM:

The Finance team consists of professionals who are customer-centric and passionate about making a difference in their role. THE SKILL SET:
- 10+ years of accounting experience with at least 5 years in a Corporate Controller or senior accounting leadership role
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Experience leading month-end close, financial audits, and compliance efforts
- Proficiency in ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and strong Excel/Google Sheets skills
- Extensive knowledge of and practical experience with ASC 606, ASC 805, and ASC 842.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Highly detail-oriented and organized in work and ability to meet assigned deadlines
- Ability to act and operate independently
- Desire and ability to build teams, hire, train, lead and develop other professionals
- Strong analytical skills with high proficiency in Excel and experience working with Big Four accounting firms.
- Demonstrated project management experience with proven ability to produce deliverables while managing competing deadlines and priorities – we have a dynamic work environment!
- Exceptional communication and leadership abilities, with experience interacting with executive teams and cross-functional partners
- Experience in B2B SaaS is preferred
- Takes ownership; ability to set a strategy and motivate others to achieve necessary deliverables

WITHIN ONE MONTH, YOU’LL:
- Meet all of the Company’s accounting service providers including the financial statement auditors and third-party valuation specialists
- Become familiar with the Company’s monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting requirements to its investors and banks
- Understand the Salesloft legal entity structure, the consolidation of such legal entities along with the commercial purpose and intent of its foreign and domestic subsidiaries
- Review the last two prior years’ audited financial statements
- Read through and thoroughly review the Company’s ASC 606 revenue recognition policy
- Review the work documented by management, the auditors, and the third-party valuation specialists relating to the recent business combinations that have occurred over the company’s history
- Develop an understanding of the company’s banking relationships, the underlying credit agreement, along with the associated reporting requirements.
- Perform an initial review of the Company’s predecessor’s closing balance sheet, the successor's opening balance sheet and the most recently audited consolidation worksheet of the successor
- Be familiar with the accounting software, tools, and all the skills necessary to set you up for success (Netsuite, Avalara, Adaptive, Carta, etc.)
- Meet key members of the accounting and finance team along with senior leaders across the business that are critical to the tax function’s success
- Be introduced to the Company’s strategic initiatives and identify opportunities for the tax function to support and play a significant role in such initiatives
- Begin one-on-one meetings with your manager, understand your 30-60-90 plan, meet & shadow current members of the Salesloft team
- Set your OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) with your manager and develop an action plan to achieve them
WITHIN THREE MONTHS, YOU’LL:
- Identify and prioritize significant financial reporting and technical accounting initiatives to address, update, and or document for the balance of the fiscal year
- In partnership with external tax resources, review the prior year's tax provision calculation
- Partner with the Director of Revenue Accounting and the Director of Corporate Accounting to understand the monthly financial close process
- Be well versed in key internal systems that apply to and for accounting and financial reporting (Netsuite, Carta, and Adaptive)
- Work with the commercial leaders, finance leaders, and other stakeholders across the business to understand the product offerings that Salesloft sells and the “performance obligations” the company has within its revenue contracts
- Prioritize and perform the initial planning procedures on the upcoming financial statement audit
- Partner with the financial statement auditors, external tax providers to define committed timelines for our annual close process and financial statement audit
- Understand the company’s international growth initiatives and begin to play a role in its international expansion including an understanding of statutory and legal accounting requirements.
- Participate and play a key role in the company’s semi-annual 409A valuation procedures, while serving as the primary intermediary between the auditors and the third-party valuation firm
- Build out and operationalize the company’s public-readiness roadmap and action plan
WITHIN SIX MONTHS, YOU’LL:
- Update the company’s revenue recognition policy
- Finalize all business combination and purchase accounting matters as the one-year evaluation period comes to an end
- Begin to develop a quarterly external reporting package that includes unaudited condensed financial statements, and other qualitatively material information that is required from the company’s banks and investors
- Define the timing and extent of the third-party valuation specialist’s procedures relating to annual impairment testing and other valuation work required on the company’s identified intangible assets
- Define the timing of the company’s annual financial statement audit
- Participate and play a key role in the company’s foreign statutory audits
- Develop a global statutory financial statement audit strategy that is considerate of the company’s scale, risk profile, and international growth to ensure global compliance
WITHIN TWELVE MONTHS, YOU’LL:
- In partnership with the strategic finance team and CFO, identify and define the key non-GAAP financial and operational metrics that we will report as a public company
- Layout a roadmap and action plan for the finance and accounting team to develop processes to quantify and report on the key non-GAAP financial and operational metrics
- Completed and facilitated the valuation procedures over intangible asset impairment as performed by the Company’s third-party valuation specialists.
- Completed and issue the audited annual financial statements and footnotes
- Develop a monthly, quarterly and annual external financial reporting package for the bank, including management's discussion and analysis.
- Play a proactive and strategic role in the company’s M&A activity, including leading any due diligence procedures that would need to be performed, or outsourced to a third-party
- Update the company’s other material accounting policies, process narratives, and identify key controls
