Job Summary

The Network Support Engineer is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting an organization's network infrastructure. This role ensures network systems' reliability, efficiency, and security, supporting the overall business goals.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Network Monitoring: Regularly monitor network performance and identify potential issues.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve network problems, including connectivity issues, hardware failures, and software malfunctions.
  • Configuration Management: Configure and manage network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • System Upgrades / Replacements: Implement system upgrades and patches to ensure network security and efficiency.
  • Technical Support: Support internal staff and external customers, addressing connectivity problems and ensuring network services meet user requirements. Teaching internal support on troubleshooting best practices.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures for internal staff members.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams to coordinate network changes and upgrades.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in network support or a related role.
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices (routers, switches, firewalls).
  • Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Experience with network monitoring tools and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have a background in a retail environment. 
  • Additional certifications such as CCNP, ITIL, or other relevant credentials.
  • Experience in a fast-paced support environment, preferably in an enterprise network setting.
  • Familiarity with wireless network architecture and security protocols.
