We are looking for a Transmission Sustainment Capital Planning Senior Engineer to develop, maintain, and improve power delivery asset replacement programs within our Transmission system.
In this role, you will enhance EPC’s Transmission Asset Management practices and support the execution of our Transmission Sustainment Capital Planning business plan. You will oversee existing capital projects, identify and justify new investments, and ensure alignment with corporate objectives under the Transmission Cost of Service regulatory framework.
This position also requires technical expertise in regulatory applications, including serving as a technical witness to support submissions. Your contributions will directly impact the reliability and efficiency of our transmission infrastructure.

Major Responsibilities:
Create and approve strategic transmission asset strategies, asset management plans, project execution plans and business cases for EPC transmission assets (e.g., substations, transmission lines, and associated equipment).
Develop decision parameters that enable consistent and prudent risk-based management of utility assets (i.e., replacement, rejuvenation, refurbishment, or repair).
Evaluate benefits and risks of proposed technical solutions and provide innovative recommendations of alternative solutions as required.
Prepare and defend capital justifications through analytical evaluations to obtain regulatory approval for asset-driven capital infrastructure replacement or modification projects.
Project and program ownership duties for transmission capital projects and programs, including providing direct support on projects.
Provide technical support for regulatory applications, including being a witness, for regulatory hearings.
Contribute to the devolvement and execution of the transmission integrated plan, including the advancement of capital initiatives in alignment with the business objectives from project initiation through to completion.
Coordinate, support and undertake in the preparation of annual asset replacement capital plans and budgets to ensure the proposed plans align with and support the corporate objectives.
Accountable for the development, implementation, and maintenance of process maps, standards, procedures, guidelines, and other business documentation required to improve and optimize the execution and governance of asset replacement capital programs and projects.
Review existing processes and work with other groups to implement efficiency improvements in the execution and governance of capital programs and projects.
Collaborate internally within EPC work groups to ensure the success of the Transmission Sustainment Capital Planning team.
Maintain strong relationships with external parties including regulatory bodies to integrate sound asset management practices and innovation.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior staff and peers through sharing of technical knowledge and expertise.
Education Required:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.
P.Eng status with The Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA).
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of directly relevant experience
Previous experience developing strategies, creating execution plans and writing business cases for capital projects.
Experience in transmission asset management including life-cycle principles, condition assessment and risk analysis.
Background in technical evaluation, design and construction with Transmission utility assets including substations and transmission lines.
Understanding of industry standards (CSA, IEEE, IEC etc.) pertaining to the design and testing of equipment and materials.
Competencies:
Strong leadership skills and experience with negotiation and conflict resolution.
Ability to manage projects that require coordination with multiple stakeholders.
Advanced problem solving and analytical skills through innovation and outside the box thinking.
Business acumen to be able to understand the financial impact of technical decisions.
Technical writing for business cases.
Communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
