We are seeking a pragmatic and strategic Legal Counsel to join the ENMAX in-house Legal Team. The ideal candidate is a keen problem-solver and relationship builder who will effectively partner with the business to deliver strategic and commercially relevant legal advice on a wide variety corporate and commercial matters.
Major Responsibilities:
Cultivate a deep understanding of ENMAX business operations to provide quality legal
advice, identify legal risks, and advise on legal obligations and steps to protect ENMAX’s
interests
Develop timely and practical legal solutions for assigned client groups
Draft and negotiate contracts and advise during negotiations and procurement events
Develop relationships within the Legal Team and across the organization to ensure the
effective delivery of legal support and advice to the business
Assist with ongoing precedent development and process improvement
Review policies and advise on compliance with legal requirements
Negotiate with third parties and external stakeholders
Work collaboratively and strategically with external counsel, as needed
Keep current on key legislative matters and update the business and Legal Team as
required
Contribute to a culture focused on teamwork, pragmatic solutions, and continuous learning and development
Education Required:
LLB or JD, Practicing member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta
Qualifications & Experience:
6+ years’ post-call experience at a top-level firm or in-house, with a strong background
in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
Experience in more than one of the following specific areas (asset): corporate commercial/contract law, energy, construction, engineering, and procurement, IT, land rights and commercial leasing, capital markets, finance and/or banking, mergers and acquisitions

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
