We are seeking a skilled IT Security Specialist for a one-year contract position with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NC DHHS). This remote role within the Privacy and Security Office (PSO) focuses on enhancing the security architecture of the Child Welfare Information System (CWIS).
Key Responsibilities
Conduct assessments to improve the security posture of the CWIS.
Integrate security measures into container workflows effectively.
Implement and manage controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with development teams to promote secure coding practices.
Evaluate vulnerabilities and manage risk within the system.
Required Skills
Extensive knowledge of security principles, including secure coding, vulnerability management, threat modeling, and risk assessment.
Proficiency with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools, preferably Kubernetes (Redhat OpenShift).
Proven experience in securing containerized environments and applying security measures throughout the development lifecycle.
Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards such as HIPAA and PCI DSS, alongside the ability to implement necessary controls.
Relevant professional certifications, including Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) or AWS Certified Security Specialty, are strongly preferred.
Understanding of the OSI networking model and hands-on experience in designing and configuring network security across layers 3, 4, and 7 is highly desirable.
Qualifications
A robust background in IT security architecture with demonstrable experience in safeguarding containerized systems.
Strong emphasis on regulatory compliance and the ability to implement effective security controls.
A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field is preferred.
