Responsibilities
As the Manager (Asbestos and Demolition Compliance) within Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ), you will be part of an efficient flexible and responsive team that strives for safer workplaces. Some of your responsibilities will include:
Lead and manage a team of specialist Inspectors in a regulator environment
Provide strategic and operational direction, support and expert advice to ensure asbestos related investigations and demolition license holder assessments meet requisite standards of quality
This role works closely with the Office of the WHS Prosecutor and CFS Legal Support Officers on asbestos related investigations
Provide high level technical advice to the OIR executive on emerging issues and trends within the asbestos and demolition compliance area
Interpret and apply complex legislation
Work autonomously and be part of a high functioning team
Location: Flexible.
To Be Successful In This Role You Will Need
To demonstrate the assimilation of specialist knowledge and skills commensurate with the requirements of the position
A qualification in the field of occupational health and hygiene that includes asbestos, and Government Investigations would be highly regarded
Strong complex writing skills or demonstrated ability to be able to read, interpret, apply and elementise legislation in a regulatory capacity and a demonstrated ability to write investigative reports
Prior demonstrated experience in applying workplace health and safety protocols, community enforcement or other such regulatory enforcement would be highly regarded
Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills, including the ability to deal with and diffuse conflict and liaise with the community around sensitive matters - Strong time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and lead others
