We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to support the operation and engineering needs of cBioPortal. In this role, you will impact the delivery of bioinformatics and medical data engineering and visualizations to the Oncology R&D organization. Your work will be central to advancing data stack, automation, and observability capabilities.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

Load and process medical and biological datasets into cBioPortal using ETL, Docker, and Apache Airflow.
Monitor and optimize data pipelines, ensuring compliance with standards.
Standardize external data formats for integration into the platform.
Collaborate with stakeholders, bioinformaticians, and infrastructure teams to resolve issues.
Review application functionalities with users and support platform improvements.

We offer a choice of employment form: B2B or Employment Contract

UoP: 17000 – 20000 PLN gross/month
B2B: 140 – 160 PLN net/hour + VAT

You Might Be The Perfect Match If You Are/have

5+ years of relevant experience in data engineering.
Strong proficiency in Python and its data/scientific libraries (e.g., pandas, numpy/scipy, polars).
Solid knowledge of ETL processes and data pipeline development.
Experience with Docker and Apache Airflow.
Hands-on experience working with medical or biological data and visualizations.
Ability to interact with various structured and unstructured data sources (e.g., HDFS, SQL, NoSQL).
Experience with scientific compute environments (e.g., HPC, cloud, Unix/Linux systems).
Solid experience with unit testing, integration testing, and version control (Git).

Moreover, We Appreciate Skills In These Areas

Exposure to Kubernetes.
Experience with bioinformatics visualization systems like cBioPortal.
Familiarity with AWS services such as S3/EBS, EC2, CloudWatch, SNS, and Lambda.
Understanding of software development, including CI/CD.
Experience with biological/health data, especially genomics and omics technologies.
Ability to map, integrate, and document complex data relationships and business rules.
