The Nursing Internship Program is designed to provide nursing students the opportunity to gain hands on experience in areas within the nursing field outside of hospital bed-side patient care. During the experience you will get exposure to patient care needs through the healthcare continuum, enrichment opportunities such as the Day in the Life of a Nurse Series, Enterprise Foundations, networking, and student cohort connections.
The Nursing Internship Program is full-time, 40 hours per week for 10 weeks starting June 3, 2025

Primary Responsibilities
As a Nurse Intern with the United Clinical Services team, you will work under the supervision of experienced RNs and clinical leaders to observe and participate in the following:
- Perform utilization management clinical chart reviews
- Identify and communicate opportunities to optimize policies, processes, and performance
- Observe and/or draft recommendations for improvement to leadership based on current and future end-to-end processes and criteria
- Learn how to track, trend and represent assessment findings, gaps, deficiencies, and risks in current process or patient care
- Provide input and clinical expertise to business leaders to inform process and performance improvement
- Serve as a key resource to provide explanation and information about findings, including complex/critical issues
- Learn and apply appropriate application of nationally recognized clinical guidelines
- React swiftly to challenges, changes in priority, ambiguity and uncertainty effectively
- Confidence to participate in building and strengthening customer relationships and finding better ways to meet customer needs

Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited RN Bachelor’s degree program with graduation anticipated within 12 months of internship
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week during the duration of the summer internship program (from June 3 - August 9)
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)
- Ability to work remotely, within a designated workspace with access to high-speed internet via cable/DSL in home setting
Preferred Qualifications
- 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of clinical terminology
- All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy
The hourly range for this role is $16.00 to $20.43 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
