Jobber exists to help people in small businesses be successful. With Jobber they can quote, schedule, invoice, and collect payments from their customers while providing an easy and professional customer experience. That’s why we put the power and flexibility in their hands to run their businesses how, where, and when they want!
Our culture of transparency, inclusivity, collaboration, and innovation has been recognized by Great Place to Work, Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures, and more. Jobber has also been named on the Globe and Mail’s Canada’s Top Growing Companies list, and Deloitte Canada’s Technology Fast 50™, Enterprise Fast 15, and Technology Fast 500™ lists. With an Executive team that has over thirty years of industry experience of leading the way, we’ve come a long way from our first customer in 2011—but we’ve just scratched the surface of what we want to accomplish for our customers.
The Role:
As a Risk Operations Analyst, you will play a crucial role in detecting and mitigating fraud and credit risk losses, ensuring Jobber is protected from financial threats. This role sits within our Risk Operations team, where we leverage technology, analytics, and operational expertise to manage risk effectively.
This is an exciting opportunity within a rapidly growing area of our business. If you have prior experience in fraud and credit risk operations and a strong growth mindset, this role is for you. You should enjoy hands-on operational work while also contributing to the development and enhancement of risk management practices. You’ll thrive in this role if you have a passion for investigation and uncovering the “why and how” behind fraud and credit risks.
The Risk Operations Analyst will:
- Monitor and Review Risk Alerts: Conduct daily risk reviews of accounts and transactions flagged by our fraud and credit risk models.
- Investigate Suspicious Activity: Analyze internal and third-party data sources to detect and mitigate merchant fraud and credit risk losses.
- Apply Risk Controls: Implement appropriate risk strategies and interventions to minimize losses while maintaining a frictionless experience for legitimate service providers.
- Engage with Service Providers: Communicate directly with merchants to address risk concerns, educate them on fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and best practices for avoiding chargebacks.
- Support Complex Investigations: Work collaboratively within the Risk team and across Jobber to analyze high-risk cases, resolve incidents, and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
- Drive Process Improvements: Identify and champion opportunities to enhance fraud prevention processes, policies, and tools to strengthen risk detection.
- Contribute to Risk Strategy Development: Assist in refining and developing fraud and risk detection systems to stay ahead of evolving threats.
- Provide Operational Risk Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams on risk-related issues affecting Jobber’s financial operations.
- Be Flexible for Business Needs: Availability to work during company and/or statutory holidays as required.
To be successful, you should have:
- Experience in fraud and credit risk operations:
- Financial Services, Fintech, or Payment Processing industries
- Strong domain expertise in merchant risk assessment, fraud detection, and underwriting, including knowledge of:
- Card-not-present (CNP) fraud
- ACH fraud and chargebacks
- Transaction monitoring and risk reviews
- Analytical and investigative mindset:
- Ability to identify transaction patterns, analyze risk trends, and take decisive action to mitigate losses.
- Exceptional communication skills:
- Comfortable discussing fraud, risk, and financial loss with service providers.
- Strong ability to articulate risk findings in clear, professional, and actionable terms to internal teams.
- Self-motivated and autonomous:
- Comfortable working remotely and independently, while being accountable for meeting targets and SLAs.
- Excellent time management and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptability and resilience:
- Embraces ambiguity and change in a high-growth, rapidly evolving fintech environment.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to take initiative and solve problems proactively.
- Team-player and problem-solver:
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and develop solutions that balance risk management and customer experience.
It would be really great (but not a deal-breaker) if you had:
- Experience with modern payment processing platforms:
- Stripe, Adyen, Checkout.com, Square
- Knowledge of payment network rules and regulatory guidelines, including:
- Visa/Mastercard fraud and chargeback rules
- NACHA/ACH compliance
- Financial regulations impacting risk operations
- Familiarity with fraud prevention tools and vendors, such as:
- Riskified, Sift, Ekata, Kount, Socure, Experian, LexisNexis
- Proficiency in operational tools and platforms:
- Slack, Zendesk, Salesforce, Asana, Confluence
- Technical skills in data analysis:
- SQL, Excel, Google Sheets, Tableau, Looker, Power BI
- Experience in related domains:
- Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS), lending, compliance, or trust & safety
