Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join our finance team team for maternity cover. This is a varied role that combines financial accounting, management accounting, and finance support functions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with management accounting tasks, and supporting key financial reporting and analysis to aid decision-making. 

Contract dates: c. 22 April 2025 - c. 21 November 2025
Flexible hours: Full-time (37.5 hours/week) or Part-time (20-25 hours/week)
Salary: Up to £40,000 p.a. (pro-rata based on contract length and part-time hours, if applicable).

Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements, providing detailed variance analysis.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledgers, posting journals as required, reviewing and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
  • Provide support in payroll processing, preparing and reviewing monthly instructions for the external payroll provider, ensuring accurate recording and reconciling of pension and health insurance deductions.
  • Preparation and filing of quarterly group VAT returns
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial projections, and monitor actual performance against budgets.
  • Perform cost analysis to identify variances, trends, and areas for cost-saving opportunities, providing insights to the management team.
  • Assist in financial analysis, including variance analysis, financial modelling, and scenario planning to support strategic decision-making. Investigates and explains significant variances to senior management.
  • Assist in managing cash flow and working capital, including monitoring cash flow, ensuring the availability of funds to meet the company's operational and investment needs.
  • Prepare and issue sales invoices to customers in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring compliance with agreed terms and conditions.
  • Work with US Senior Accountant to ensure accurate posting of intercompany transactions and reconciliation of intercompany accounts.
  • Manage and reconcile accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Work with Studio Production teams to prepare accurate Project reporting and other adhoc analysis as required to provide valuable insights to support the strategic planning and growth of the business.

  • Required skills and experience
  • Demonstrable experience in financial accounting or management accounting, ideally with a combination of both.
  • Part-qualified or fully qualified in AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or ACA (or studying towards a qualification) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced level), and experience using Xero is preferred.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions and reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
