Senior Software Engineer

The Genesys Digital & AI group plays a pivotal role in providing the innovations that enable global brands (over 7,500 organizations in 100+ countries) to orchestrate customer experiences across all communication and engagement channels. As a senior backend engineer in our customer-oriented group, you will design and build products that utilise AI and data analytics to solve real-world problems. You will work alongside accomplished engineers, researchers, designers, and product managers who will help take your impact to the next level. We are a highly collaborative group who take immense pride in our work and in learning from each other. We do not take ourselves too seriously and we do everything we can to iterate rapidly and deliver valuable features to as many customers as possible.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop robust backend systems using Python and / or Java, working with cutting-edge AI, analytics and data science technologies.

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across Product Management, Engineering and AI Research to share knowledge, solve complex challenges, and innovate continuously.

  • Engage in all aspects of agile software delivery, from research to proof-of-concept, product chartering, rapid iterative development, production hardening, and on-call support.

  • Apply a testing-first mindset to ensure reliability and scalability of our services.

  • Design APIs that support the needs of Genesys Cloud users and our platform integrators.

  • Learn about and implement emerging technologies.

  • Mentor junior team members and set technical direction.

What We're Looking For:

  • Ideally, a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related disciplines. However, this is not a hard requirement as we recognise there are many diverse paths into software careers.

  • 4+ years in software development.

  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for continuous learning.

  • Programming experience in Python and / or Java.

  • Knowledge of algorithms, data structures and software architecture.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable Experience or an Interest in Learning:

  • Analytics and data science frameworks/technologies, e.g. Apache Spark.

  • Machine learning concepts and frameworks.

  • Event-driven architecture.

  • AWS cloud technologies.

  • DevOps and SRE principles.

  • Continuous Integration/Delivery practices.
