Description of Job: 

The Regional Sales Manager will lead a team of technical sales managers, create and implement regional business plans, and identify new business opportunities in the [REGION DESCRIPTION HERE]. In addition, this position will maintain technical sales management responsibility for a defined territory. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ag sales, people management experience, and established relationships with key distributors and retailers.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage goals, budgets, and objectives to obtain company goals and objectives and lead to growth.
  • Manage day-to-day activities of the technical sales managers, including providing feedback and guidance to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Responsible for coaching and training the technical sales team.
  • Develop regional sales tactics and execute the overall business strategy.
  • Drive CRM usage.
  • Develop relationships with leadership from key retailers and strategic accounts.
  • Prepare action plans and schedules to achieve specific sales targets.
  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of sales, methods, costs, and results.
  • Effectively manage budget to maximize results.
  • Work with marketing to develop a regional marketing plan.
  • Represent the company at trade, professional, and scientific association and/or business meetings to promote the company.
  • Organize and lead sales team meetings.
  • Promote positive relations with partners, vendors, distributors, and colleagues.
  • Work with department managers and corporate staff to develop required business plans and forecasts for the company.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in sales, including experience in territory and/or program management.
  • Knowledge of customer base within the market. Specific Customer contacts and business relationships within the target market is a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and a good understanding of plant physiology, crop production, crop protection and soil health is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Power Bi) and CRM software platforms (Salesforce experience is a plus).
  • Organization and leadership skills, including people-management experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Ag Business, Soil Biology, Mycology, Microbiology, Plant Pathology, Agronomy. Master’s degree preferred.

Travel: 50%

Base Salary: The estimated annual base salary for this position ranges from: 

$140,000  to  $170,000. Individual pay is based upon location, skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

Incentives: All full-time employees are eligible for an incentive program or profit-sharing program in addition to their base salary.
