GRID Alternatives’ Tribal Program has worked since 2010 with Indigenous Nations across the United States to achieve their renewable energy goals. Using a community-centric approach, we partner with Tribes to identify, develop, finance and implement solar power projects that meet community needs, including education, hands-on training, and energy cost reductions for tribal members.
The Opportunity...
We are offering a position for a Construction Manager to support the Tribal Program construction for residential, commercial, and off-grid solar projects within the central and western USA.
- Construction management responsibilities including project development, design support, scheduling, contractor management, procurement, permitting, and site coordination.
- Visit active job sites to participate in installations.
- Lead and mentor PV installation team
- Accountable for all safety and quality aspects of PV installations. Ensure that all solar installations are installed according to GRID Alternatives safety and quality standards
- Review designs for compliance with GRID Alternatives design standards
- Other responsibilities include equipment unloading and loading, answering client and trainee questions, O&M and Service, inputting data into Salesforce and other computer programs, ability to travel at least 25% of the time, and participating in activities necessary to achieve successful solar installations for low-income families.
- Ability to work with a Team, including field and office staff
What You Need To Bring To This Role…
- 3-5 years experience in residential, commercial, roof and ground mounted PV system installation, design, and troubleshooting.
- Demonstration of strong electrical background: understanding of electrical theory, AC and DC electrical systems, NEC Code, jurisdictional requirements, and installation techniques.
- Excellent communication skills (ability to work with external and internal partners, ability to represent GRID Alternatives positively)
- Excellent management/leadership skills (ability to build a positive work environment within team)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Passion for environmental justice, sustainability, affordable housing, the environment, or just generally grounded in making the world a better place.
- OSHA 10, Equipment Operator Certifications, advanced solar and electrical theory training (SEI or similar), and NABCEP.
Where you will sit & the places you may go…
The Tribal Team has an office and warehouse in Denver Colorado, ideally the candidate would be based close to Denver to help with operations. This position could also be remote. Travel commitment is at least 25%, this will vary depending on project type and location. Availability to work on nights and weekends may rarely be required.
GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

This is a full-time, exempt position. Salary pay commensurate with experience within the pay band
($62k- $83k annually), plus the benefits below.
