Maintains BHSF Master Patient Index (MPI), unique patient identifier, linking patient clinical history across the Health System for all Acute Care Hospitals, Outpatient Services, Ambulatory Surgical Centers, and Baptist Health Medical groups. Identifies and corrects patient‘s MPI across separate clinical, financial, and administrative systems maintaining a unique patient identifier to ensure integrity of the Medical Records for patient safety and continuity of care. MPI is a National Patient Safety Indicator, TCJ identifier, and Red Flag Policy. Patient Identify Management ensures consolidation of clinical patient data for Health Information Exchange to improve quality, safety, and cost of patient care. Work as part of team to meet individual and departmental goals.
Qualifications
Degrees:
High School,Cert,GED,Trn,Exper.
Additional Qualifications
Associate degree in related field preferred.
Prefer Certified Record Health Information Technician (RHIT) and/or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
Minimum of two years of acute care experience in medical record analysis.
Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
Knowledge of health information systems, database management, spreadsheet design, and computer technology.
Ability to organize work priorities and to be attentive to fine details with good decision- making skills in a high volume high producing work setting.
Excellent computer proficiency, (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook).
Requires typing 25 wpm and passing MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint testing.
Requiring on-call coverage including nights and weekends for patient care support.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
