What You'll Do...

H&R Block is seeking a Data Engineer for the Data Management and Acquisition team within Strategy & Operations. This remote or local position will ensure that high quality data is provided to support analytics and reports for Senior leaders and business stake holders.

Day to Day, You'll...

Work on large data sets using Azure SQL DB
Extract data from JSON formats and load to Hive Tables – evolve and maintain an efficient/generic process
Process data using Databricks Notebooks and Python and maintain it in ADO repositories
Create/Maintain custom Python libraries as needed to support Analytics teams
Interact with Business Stake holders, Data Scientists, and the Technology team to prepare and cleanse the data for analytics and reporting needs
Monitor work using Azure Dev Ops (ADO) stories
Automate process as needed to improve the speed of delivery
Be a continuous learner, with the goal of expert level understanding of H&R Block data
Work closely with the Technology team and Analytics team to review roadmaps and understand future needs.

What You'll Bring To The Team...

Bachelor’s (preferred in Computer Science, Data Science)
Hands on Experience in Data Bricks, Python and handling Hive Tables
ETL process knowledge
Azure SQL Database - Writing Complex SQL queries efficiently and optimizing them
Exposure to ADO, DevOps and GitHub integrations using CI/CD
Effective Oral, Written and Interpersonal communication skills
Be customer-centric, curious, a problem solver, and better together

Pay Range Information

The pay range for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed.

Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan.
