Job description

THE POSITION

Are you ready to take on a leadership role and make a positive impact on Pennsylvania's health care system? The Department of Health is looking for a Safety Inspection Supervisor to support their mission of providing access to medical marijuana for patients with serious medical conditions. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective delivery of medical marijuana, promoting high-quality research, and developing compliance processes and policies. You will also oversee field inspectors as they conduct inspections and investigations of medical marijuana dispensaries, growers, and clinical facilities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Safety Inspection Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing staff in providing information and clarification on acceptable policies, regulations, and application processes for proposed and permitted medical marijuana organizations (MMOs). Additionally, you will assign and review the work of field inspectors, evaluate their performance, interpret labor agreements, resolve complaints or grievances, and ensure the professional development of staff. You will be responsible for managing and supervising the inspectors in their inspection activities. You can expect to set inspection priorities, review inspection findings, provide technical guidance, address compliance issues, and identify emerging concerns that require action. In collaboration with the Facility Compliance Specialist, you will also determine inspectors' training needs, develop training processes and materials, and request formal training in accordance with program policies and directives.

In this role, you will be responsible for participating in operational and pre-operational inspections of new construction and initial facility openings. You will also review and provide input on MMO applications for facility alterations, as well as conduct operational inspections. You will have the opportunity to meet with various professionals, such as architects, engineers, and local officials, to discuss compliance needs and provide technical guidance. In addition, you will work closely with law enforcement, internal and external legal agencies, and federal entities for the purposes of auditing, inspection, investigation, incident response, or legal action.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This is a home headquartered position which will require you to be headquartered at your home and travel to worksites to complete your work duties. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Safety Inspector; or
  • T wo years of experience inspecting commercial, industrial, healthcare or other buildings, structures, machines, apparatus, devices or equipment for compliance with applicable safety codes and regulations; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment:

  • You must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
