Purpose of the role:
In this role you will contribute to the general ledger accounting functions/processes, including accruals for outside manufacturing providers, inventory accounting, and other account reconciliations. You will play a key role in the evolution of our processes for inventory and production accounting and other firsts as we continue to grow and evolve as a company.
We are looking for a highly capable, responsible, results-oriented individual who will exercise independent problem-solving skills. The Accounting Manager will be highly organized, proactive, and experienced in account analysis and reconciliations. They will have a broad-based understanding of monthly close processes in support of an accurate, timely earnings release and SEC filings in a public company setting operating in a SOX compliant environment.
Responsibilites:
- Partner with internal supply chain management team to ensure timely and accurate monthly closing of inventory accounts and records including accounting for all production activities
- Prepare monthly accruals for the manufacturing departments
- Determine and apply overhead rates to inventory, monitor adequacy of overhead rates and adjust the rates as necessary
- Prepare, and once automated, review accounting for cost of goods sold and other product cost related items such as the cost of samples
- Prepare excess and obsolete inventory analysis
- Evaluate and recognize adjustments as necessary and prepare margin analysis as appropriate. Manage inventory accounting and valuation
- Coordinate closely with FP&A to support planning and forecasting related to production, product costs and inventory
- Accounting for certain prepaid and accrual accounts
- Prepare accurate journal entries and general ledger account reconiliations on a timely basis for several general ledger accounts. Specific account responsibilities may shift over time depending on needs, capabilities, and your interests as we continue to grow and evolve over time.
- Responsible for the timely and accurate posting of month end close Accounting transactions
- Execute the monthly-close process and preparation of monthly financial reporting packages for management review
- Consistently maintain appropriate internal controls and uphold company policies & procedures
- Interact successfully with internal and external auditors and support interim and year-end audits by providing timely & accurate data and communication
- Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for SEC filings
- Assist with updating controls including assessing any control gaps and changes in processes
- Adhoc Accounting analysis schedules and reconciliations as requested
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline, CPA is a plus, with 5+ years of related experience
- 3+ years of Inventory and Cost accounting experience in a public company, preferably with biotech industry experience
- Strong systems skills including systems implementation experience. Prior experience utilizing systems to improve efficiency and accuracy of financial results. Experience with NetSuite or a major ERP
- Superior attention to detail and strong organizational skills; strong process improvement and problem-solving skills
- Picks up topics, moves them forward and achieves results with a hands-on approach, intellectual astuteness, and a way of working which is solution-oriented and pragmatic

- Strong Excel expertise
- Experience in SOX compliance requirements

The anticipated annualized base pay range for this full-time position is $105,000-$129,000. Ardelyx utilizes industry data to ensure that our compensation is competitive and aligned with our industry peers. Actual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors, including years of relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include an annual bonus target and equity awards, subject to eligibility and other requirements.
