Position Overview:

We are seeking a Paralegal to assist our attorney in preparing bankruptcy petitions and mortgage modification applications. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling client communications, document collection, and electronic filings. This role requires experience with bankruptcy procedures, strong communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently under deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Client & Trustee Communication:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, the trustee’s office, and lenders.
    • Keep clients informed about their case progress and required actions.
  • Document Collection & Review:

    • Request, collect, and review financial and legal documents from clients.
    • Ensure all required documents are complete and accurate before submission.
  • Bankruptcy Petition Preparation & Filing:

    • Enter client data into legal software to prepare bankruptcy petitions.
    • Review and finalize bankruptcy petitions for accuracy and completeness.
    • Electronically file (e-file) bankruptcy petitions with the appropriate courts.
  • Trustee Meeting Preparation:

    • Collect and prepare all necessary documents for the 341 Meeting with the Trustee.
    • Assist clients in understanding what to expect during the meeting.
  • Mortgage Modification Assistance:

    • Prepare and submit mortgage modification applications for clients.
    • Draft and process Reaffirmation Agreements, as needed.
    • Follow up with lenders and clients to track the progress of modification requests.
  • Case Management & Follow-Ups:

    • Maintain detailed and organized case files.
    • Monitor case progress and follow up with clients, trustees, and lenders as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Education & Experience:

    • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field (preferred).
    • Prior experience as a Paralegal with bankruptcy and mortgage modifications.
    • Familiarity with e-filing bankruptcy petitions and working with trustees.
  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Knowledge of bankruptcy law and mortgage modification procedures.
    • Excellent attention to detail and data entry accuracy.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively.
    • Proficiency in legal software and e-filing systems.
Work Schedule:
  • Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM PST
  • 30-minute unpaid break (7.5 paid hours per day)
