Key Position Details:

  • Position will be primarily remote - will include quarterly meetings onsite at the Commons in Minneapolis as well as on an as needed basis for projects
  • Full time position
  • 8-hour, day shifts
  • Occasional weekends / evening work - Will be part of an on-call communication structure rotation to handle issues as they arise - this work can be done remotely

Job Description:

Provides counsel to executive leaders and business partners on communications strategy. Evaluates competitive landscapes and target audiences to strategically develop an executive comprehensive communications plan for internal and external audiences. Thinks across various organizational functions and provides communications solutions that blend communications, brand strategy, technology, creative marketing and data to drive desired perceptions and behaviors for both employees and other stakeholders. Requires professional experience, ability to handle confidential information and ability to independently solve issues of diverse scope and complexity. Regularly mentoring and training other team members is a component of this position.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Writing and Materials Production
    • Creates messaging and materials for large-scale projects and complex ongoing communication needs. This may include presentations, background documents and Q&A for executive visibility.
    • Partners with executive and Communications leaders to translate key business issues and priorities into messages that are understood by/resonate with audiences at all levels.
    • Connects themes and use relationship-oriented messaging/storytelling that contributes to a culture of transparency.
    • Ensures company brand, graphic identity and writing style guide requirements are maintained in visual and written materials.
  • Consulting
    • Serves as a strategic partner to business unit/ system office project teams to deliver effective communications that support business objectives and drive and/or maintain engagement.
    • Shares professional knowledge and experience to aid executives in solving problems of diverse scope and substantial complexity.
    • May play a key role on the broader Communications team and in development of department strategy.
  • Strategic planning
    • Develops communication plans and strategies for assigned business units, functions, projects and/or campaigns.
    • Assumes project management responsibilities, including identifying and meeting deadlines for content creation and message deployment.
    • Stay current on relevant industry and organizational information that could affect communications strategy and/or service lines/clients
    • Evolves communications strategies to best meet the needs of business unit leaders and/or targeted audiences.
    • Proactively partners with appropriate communication vehicle owners to deploy the communications.
  • Evaluate, measure and report on content and communication activities
    • Effectively use Allina Health’s established communications framework.
    • Maintain and/or contribute to regular service line/leadership/client reports, ensuring communications are tracked, input is accurate and high quality.
    • Contributes to processes that help enhance structures and process improvements in communications prioritization, measurement and deployment.
  • Crisis Management
    • Participates in crisis communications on-call rotation.
    • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field
  • 7+ years experience in internal/external communication and/or change management communications

Pay Range

Pay Range: $40.37 to $55.85 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
