Moderna is seeking an experienced Manager, Global Cost Accounting to play a key role in international cost accounting for Contract Manufacturers (CMOs) and standard cost. This pivotal position focuses on CMO reconciliations, Month-End Close, Inventory Reserves, and General Ledger Account Reconciliations, while also supporting SOX, internal, and external audits.

This is a unique opportunity to drive financial excellence in a high-growth biotech company while working in a highly collaborative and innovative environment. In this role, you will not only enhance Moderna’s cost accounting integrity but also contribute to the company’s broader mission of improving lives through mRNA science.

This is an individual contributor role based in Warsaw, Poland, requiring 70% on-site presence with 30% flexibility to work remotely.

Here's What You’ll Do:

Your key responsibilities will be:

CMO Reconciliations:

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to ensure inventory on-hand accuracy, propose adjustments, and approve GMP forms as needed.

  • Review and approve BMOs while developing standard costs for CMOs.

  • Engage with cross-functional teams, driving continuous process improvements that align with Moderna’s rapid growth.

Month-End Close:

  • Execute cost accounting close procedures in SAP, analyzing spending, absorption, and allocations to inventory.

  • Evaluate, investigate, and report on Work in Process (WIP), Purchase Price Variance (PPV), and Manufacturing Variances.

  • Provide insights into manufacturing variances, guiding decision-making to enhance efficiency.

Inventory Reserves:

  • Record and monitor inventory reserves for international CMOs, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  • Implement best practices in cost accounting, continuously improving financial operations.

General Ledger Account Reconciliations:

  • Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of inventory general ledger accounts, offering detailed analysis and insights.

  • Work closely with Supply Chain, integrating cost data into broader financial reporting.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Supporting SOX compliance, internal audits, and external audits.

  • Identifying opportunities for automation and process optimization.

  • Driving continuous improvements in cost accounting processes, leveraging digital finance tools and data analytics.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

  • 5+ years of progressive cost accounting experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required

  • Experience working in global cost accounting with a focus on manufacturing variances

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience working in a global capacity within a biotech or pharma manufacturing environment

  • MBA, CPA, or CMA certification, showcasing a commitment to professional development and excellence

  • Expertise in Cost Accounting, equipped with the ability to transform financial data into strategic actions, aligning with the digitize everywhere possible mindset to leverage advanced analytical tools

  • Exceptional leadership capabilities and a collaborative spirit, essential for nurturing a global team and fostering cross-functional partnerships

  • Primarily work in our Poland office 70% of the time with flexibility to work from home 30%
