What to expect in this role
We are seeking an Engineering Lead to direct our software development initiatives within the BFSI sector. This pivotal role involves both active coding (50-70% of your time) and leadership responsibilities, overseeing the modernization of our customers’ legacy systems and the adoption of new technologies. The ideal candidate is a versatile developer comfortable with multiple programming languages and experienced in leading diverse teams.
Lead development efforts, writing code and reviewing code written by others to ensure it meets industry standards.
Mentor and support junior engineers, providing guidance and feedback to help them grow professionally.
Manage and optimize various database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) and understand caching and basic networking to improve application performance.
Drive the migration and integration of cloud-based solutions and infrastructures.
Collaborate cross-functionally to align engineering projects with broader company goals, particularly within the payments sphere.
Prioritize tasks and manage team resources to meet project deadlines and budget targets.
Requirements and technical skills
Extensive programming experience, with a willingness to adapt and learn new languages as project needs dictate.
Strong background in managing both relational and non-relational databases, caching, and fundamental networking concepts.
Demonstrated leadership in technical projects with the ability to mentor and uplift a team.
Solid experience in the BFSI domain, with a preference for candidates with exposure to the payments industry.
Practical knowledge in managing and scaling legacy systems while implementing modern solutions.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience specifically in the payments or asset management industries is highly desirable.
Successful track record in transitioning from monolithic architectures to more modern distributed architectures.
