Overview
Dillon’s Environmental Sciences technical group is looking to add a talented Junior Environmental Professional to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.
At Dillon, we operate as one team, and this full-time position is available from Dillon's Calgary, AB office.

Responsibilities:
What your day will look like
Field Work
- Coordinating and completing field programs for contaminated sites projects, including Phase I, II & III Environmental Site Assessments, hydrogeological investigations, soil/groundwater/surface water/sediment/soil vapour sampling programs, and contaminated site remediation projects.
- Documenting field activities, site health and safety meetings, among others in paper and digital formats.
- Preparing sampling plans, collecting and compiling field data, digital geo-referenced data, and field notes.
- Contributing to environmental monitoring tasks on construction and industrial sites.
- Assisting in preparation of environmental site assessment reports, including: compilation and analysis of data, borehole logs and test pit logs.
- Assisting with designated hazardous substance surveys including asbestos and lead sampling and assist in air emissions testing programs.
- Operating, calibrating, and maintaining project specific equipment.
Project Coordination
- Coordinating with laboratories, clients, subcontractors, third-party stakeholders.
- Assisting with report writing and preparation of technical memos, letters, reports, spreadsheets and figures.
- Providing assistance to project managers, engineers, environmental scientists and others on a variety of multidisciplinary design teams (including project engineers, planners, biologists, technologists, etc.), with the opportunity to develop into a Project Manager.

Qualifications:
What you will need to succeed
- A degree in Geology, Geoscience, Geological Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related environmental discipline.
- Entry level to 2 years of experience in environmental consulting and/or related work experience.
- Strong work ethic with genuine interest in environmental consulting and field work.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.
- Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- A valid G driver’s license.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Willingness to work remotely in the field for up to two weeks.
- Ability to work overtime when required.
- Ability to work alone in the field with guided direction or partial supervision.
- Proficiency in data entry, data compilation and the management of databases.
- Proficiency in the writing of technical reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint).
Experience:
Experience in any of the following would be considered an asset
- Eligibility to register for a professional designation (or member in training).
- Knowledge of Phased Environmental Site Assessments, remediation and/or hazardous building material surveys.
- Knowledge of relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations and guidelines.
- Knowledge of field procedures relating to borehole drilling and monitoring well installation, soil, sediment, surface water and groundwater sampling, soil and groundwater remediation, and construction monitoring.
- Experience working around heavy equipment, including drill rigs and excavators.
- Proficiency in ESdat, Surfer, gINT or database abilities will be an asset.
