Job description

We are helping our client hire a Director of People Technology, who will lead the execution of the global People Technology ecosystem, ensuring it drives efficiency, enhances the employee experience, and aligns with their long-term goals.

 

The role is fully remote however, conversion is possible and the Consultant will need to be within Durham, NC for the FTE position - The Manager prefers someone who can work CST or EST hours (not required) - This role requires a leader with a strong commitment to operational excellence, adept at solving complex Workday-related technical challenges while using those solutions to elevate and empower the team. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional skills in managing globally distributed teams across multiple time zones and demonstrate a strong ability to identify and eliminate single points of failure. This leader should embody a "player-coach" mentality, actively contributing to day-to-day problem-solving while mentoring and developing team members to drive long-term success. Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead the execution of a comprehensive People Technology strategy, aligning technology investments with the business priorities and HR vision.
  • Create a multi-year roadmap to enhance the People Technology ecosystem, with a strong focus on employee experience, scalability, and innovation.
  • Partner with HR and IT leadership to prioritize and implement technology solutions that drive organizational efficiency and impact.

System Optimization & Innovation

  • Lead the optimization and implementation of Workday and other HR systems, ensuring seamless integration and maximum utilization.
  • Oversee the adoption and integration of additional tools, such as ServiceNow, Payroll , and ATS, to streamline HR processes and improve user experience.
  • Stay ahead of technology trends, including AI, to identify opportunities for innovation and process automation.

Change Management & Communication

  • Develop and lead change management strategies to ensure smooth adoption of new systems and processes.
  • Drive effective communication plans, ensuring stakeholders at all levels understand the goals, benefits, and impacts of technology initiatives.
  • Act as a champion for People Technology, fostering alignment and buy-in across the organization.

Data Governance & Reporting

  • Establish robust data governance frameworks to maintain data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with global regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Partner with HR Analytics to deliver actionable insights and reporting that support strategic decision-making.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and grow a high-performing People Technology team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Provide mentorship and development opportunities, ensuring the team stays at the forefront of HR technology trends.
  • Leverage external vendor partnerships effectively, balancing in-house capabilities with outsourced expertise.

 

Requirements:

Experience & Expertise

  • 12+ years of experience in HR technology, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role overseeing HRIS or People Technology teams.
  • Proven expertise in Workday implementation, optimization, and integration. Deep knowledge in Workday Payroll or Recruiting is preferred.
  • Experience managing large-scale system implementations and complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes, including talent management, payroll, benefits, and learning & development.
  • Knowledge of data governance, compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA), and system security best practices.

 

Skills

  • Exceptional leadership and team development abilities, with a proven track record of driving change and innovation.
  • Strong project management skills, including scoping, planning, execution, and vendor management.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to leverage data to inform strategy.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders across all levels.
  • Familiarity with additional tools such as ServiceNow, LMS, ATS, and cloud-based HR technology platforms.

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Workday or other HR technology platforms (e.g., Workday Pro, ServiceNow certifications).
  • Experience in high-growth, fast-paced environments, including large-scale mergers, acquisitions, or divestitures.
