Job Description

As a Bookkeeper for this fast-paced home renovation and retail business, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining financial stability and supporting the company’s rapid growth. You’ll be at the heart of financial operations, managing everything from supplier payments to project invoicing using Xero. Responsibilities
  • Expertly manage accounts payable, processing invoices from skilled tradesmen and suppliers to ensure timely payments and maintain positive vendor relationships
  • Oversee accounts receivable, creating and tracking invoices for renovation projects, including managing progressive payment structures to optimize cash flow
  • Implement and maintain a robust system for monitoring and following up on overdue payments, contributing directly to the company’s financial health
  • Set up and manage automated payroll systems for staff members, ensuring accurate and timely wage payments
  • Take charge of overall cash flow management, including bill payments and financial forecasting to support business growth
  • Monitor and promptly respond to accounts-related emails, maintaining clear communication with clients, suppliers, and internal team members
  • Prepare detailed financial reports and assist in budgeting processes, providing valuable insights to guide business decisions
  • Collaborate closely with the business owner to streamline financial processes and support strategic planning

Requirements
  • Proven proficiency in Xero accounting software, with the ability to leverage its features for maximum efficiency
  • Strong foundation in bookkeeping principles and practices, with a keen eye for detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with team members, clients, and suppliers
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic understanding of the construction or home renovation industry preferred, but not required
  • Comfortable working remotely and managing responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and a positive attitude towards learning and adapting to new challenges
  • Available to work 4 hours per day, 5 days a week, with flexibility within the 10 AM to 2 PM (Sydney time) window
