Summary of Job Duties:
The Director of Center for Community Engagement manages and coordinates all activities associated with the operation of the Center for Community Engagement and oversee work of the Volunteer Action Center including but not limited to – recruitment, hiring, supervision, development, and evaluation of both professional staff and students. Lead the organization regarding strategic planning, initiatives, and assessment in all program areas – food, mentoring, literacy, service, civic engagement, and student engagement. Provide oversight and/or advise various university student committees, serve as a member to assigned university-wide committees, and develop intentional working relationship with both internal and external constituents that foster student engagement. Oversee all budgets, grants, and financial processes and operations that strengthen and support the center’s focus on student learning and development.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education

  • At least five years of experience in program administration or related field including supervising full-time staff and mentoring college student leaders or volunteers

  • Advanced administrative experience in college student activities/programs or related fields including budget and office management experience

  • Experience managing and crafting partnerships and relationships within the non-profit sector or key program constituents 

Applicable equivalencies may be considered for the above qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least eight plus years of supervising full-time staff  and student advising or volunteer management experience in higher education

  • At least five plus years of successful experience in planning, developing, and implementing complex strategic goals and program initiatives that require the effective management of resources including a large workforce, significant budget and financial operations, and experience collaborating with students and student leadership

  • Experience managing complex fiscal initiatives including recognizing donor intent, writing, and managing grants and state/student fee-funded budgets 

  • Experience with the organization and administration of various higher education academic and social programs

  • Experience with a range of web platforms: Workday, Give Pulse, Engage, etc.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of the organization and administration of various higher education academic and social programs including the organization and administration of various campus food programs nationally, mentoring, leadership, and more

  • Knowledge of campus and community resources and ability to partner with multiple constituents on campus and within the local and state communities

  • Knowledge of state, federal, and campus rules, regulations, and requirements related to campus academic and social programs

  • High organizational skills to multi-task and complete very detailed tasks and exceptional communication skills 

  • Ability to coordinate the activities of campus academic and/or social programs, advise multiple student engagement programs and manage the details of each

  • Ability to evaluate collected information and formulate into recommendations

  • Ability to compile information into report form and assess the student experiences to support student success and belonging
