Salary Range:

We are looking for a product focussed iOS Engineer, to join a multidisciplinary app development team, where you will work alongside other native and backend engineers, platform engineers, product manager, designer, and researchers to support and bring exciting features for our iOS app users. You will have the opportunity to work on the biggest bets for Etsy's business and contribute directly to Etsy's goals and growth.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Engineering Manager. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.

For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub or in the San Francisco Bay Area may be the first to be considered. For candidates within commutable distance, Etsy requires in-office attendance once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. The engineer will be part of an app team within our Recommendation System department, responsible for developing a delightful shopping experience for millions of users as they shop for nearly one hundred million listings on the Etsy Marketplace. What does the day-to-day look like?

• Contribute impactful work on Etsy’s highly rated iOS apps with millions of users.

• Write code in both Swift, and Objective-C.

• Work on sophisticated and exciting debugging challenges.

• Develop and maintain high-quality, reusable Android components and libraries that power recommendation experiences across Etsy's mobile apps.

• Collaborate with product teams to understand their recommendation needs and translate them into flexible and performant platform solutions.

• Contribute to the design and architecture of our Android platform, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and testability.

• Partner with backend engineers to define and implement data interfaces that facilitate seamless integration between client and server.

• Lead and assist in performing any needed testing including unit, functional, visual, etc

• Continue to advance your skills in using modern mobile development technology in a collaborative setting.

• Communicate technical issues with all vital stakeholders.

• Collaborate with engineers across disciplines (API/backend & Android) to craft team processes and build cross-functional user experiences.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

• Are proficient in Swift and Objective C (we’re increasingly Swift, and some areas of our codebase are still 'classic' iOS).

• Are comfortable developing user interfaces in both UIKit and SwiftUI.

• Have previously worked on large applications with many developers or teams.

• Can communicate complex technical issues.

• Are passionate about clean code and quality development practices.

• Have experience with automated testing (unit tests, functional tests, visual tests) and accessibility frameworks.

• Are generous with your time and experience, and can mentor other engineers.

• Can define and tackle unconstrained problems, and know when to seek help when no progress is being made.Have a “leave it better than you found it” mentality, and are willing to work with and improve on code you did not originally write.
