About the Job
The Head of Compensation & Benefits (Temp) is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of an organization's compensation and benefits strategy. This includes designing, implementing, and evaluating compensation programs, incentive structures, benefits packages, and reward systems that align with organizational goals and attract, retain, and motivate top talent. The role requires a strong understanding of market trends, regulatory compliance, and internal equity, ensuring that compensation structures are competitive and sustainable.
The Head of Compensation & Benefits (Temp) will collaborate with senior leadership and HR teams to create programs that drive employee engagement, satisfaction, and performance. This role also involves leading the compensation planning process, conducting benchmarking, administering salary reviews, and managing the benefits renewal process, including health, wellness, and retirement plans.
Key Responsibilities
Develop a comprehensive compensation structure across all functions and levels within the organization, inclusive of base pay, variable pay programs, bonuses, and long and short-term incentive plans.
Benchmarks new and existing positions against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position.
Partners with recruiting to prepare and maintain job descriptions and salary scales for each position in the organization; ensures descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents.
Responsible for ensuring (thorough audits, legal updates, and personal interactions) that company compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with company policies and government regulations as well as federal, state, and local law.
Trains current People Operations team on compensation & job leveling best practices
Acts as lead point of contact with insurance brokers to create competitive, cost-effective benefits packages for the organization and coordinates providing benefit data/information to outsourced benefit providers.
Oversees company 401K plan administration (compliance requirements, annual audit) as well as relationship management with the recordkeeper, TPA & auditor
Oversee total rewards team
Basic Qualifications
5 + years of experience (at least 3 of which being in compensation administration)
Bachelor’s degree in business or HR
Experience leading a 401K audit
Experience managing benefits at organizations where they are self funded
Experience conducting an RFP process & transitioning 401K plans considered an asset
Experience in Workday a plus
