Are you an Engineering Lead who has experience with APIs? Do you have experience with or are passionate about Cybersecurity? Are you looking for a Player/Coach role where you can bounce ideas off of a senior team and spearhead mission-critical projects?
Flashpoint is seeking an Engineering Lead to join our Cyber Threat Intelligence team to lead a team of engineers and provide customers with access to actionable technical intelligence. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust APIs that handle compromised credentials and technical indicators, playing a pivotal part in our mission to enhance information security. We have a role for you if
You have managed a team of 2-8 engineers in the past;
You are comfortable managing individual contributors of varying skill levels, all the way from SWE I to Staff Engineers;
You collaborate well with Product Managers and are customer-focused;
You can balance technical leadership with people leadership;
You want to architect a system and lead a team responsible for maintaining a distributed system of large data sets for Technical Intelligence (Indicators of Compromise and Account Takeover);
You have used agile practices and feel comfortable aligning and coaching a team on these principles;
You have experience with Python, Kubernetes, Docker, Elasticsearch, and BigQuery,
You feel comfortable working cross-functionally with a team of Intel analysts who support product development.
What you will achieve
Within 30 days
Meet the team and build relationships with the Individual Contributors and Product Managers responsible for delivering product modules on the Cyber Threat Intelligence team.
Get acquainted with Flashpoint’s culture and agile processes.
Shadow team members to understand their roles and responsibilities.
Learn about the Compromised Credentials and Indicators of Compromise APIs you will be responsible for building and maintaining.
Get access to key engineering systems and development environments.
Within 60 days
Meet with peers outside of engineering on Customer Success and Intel who are critical to the success of the Cyber Threat Intelligence product modules.
Begin to get familiar with the architecture and critical systems within your team’s mandate.
Review key engineering metrics and take over the agile processes for the team.
Have contributed to some parts of the codebase to build confidence in the system and learn more about historical engineering decisions.
By 90 days
Have worked with the engineers, product managers, and Intel team to ship your first project.
Work with your peers and team to draft a quarterly plan to align with Flashpoint’s quarterly planning process.
Begin aligning on career goals with your direct reports.
Set goals for the Cyber Threat Intelligence engineering team aligned with Flashpoint’s engineering priorities.
Have a clear understanding of the team’s dynamics, strengths, and challenges; be able to communicate and advocate on behalf of your team.
To be successful in this role, you will need
A Passion for delivering a high-quality customer experience and aligning engineering services with customer needs.
A deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and large data stores such as Elasticsearch, BigQuery, and BigTable.
An appreciation for agile processes.
A background or a passion for information security.
An understanding of the importance of architecture tradeoffs and system design needed to build reliable, scalable, and fast APIs for customers and internal users.
A thorough understanding of the Python ecosystem.
Base Pay Range: CA$130,000/yr - CA$150,000/yr plus bonus
