The Hybrid & Open Access Journals Editorial department is a vibrant and dynamic team of highly motivated individuals who are passionate about research and publishing. We are responsible for developing and growing a diverse portfolio of high-quality, valuable journals across the social sciences, STEM fields, and various business models to adapt to a changing market. Our collaborative efforts with external editors, society partners, and internal colleagues in editorial, marketing, and product innovation roles ensure the growth, success, and long-term sustainability of our program. Could you be our new Publisher? Do you have?
- Extensive experience in journals publishing.
- Financial acumen and sound commercial judgement, with a track record of profitable list development.
- Effective relationship management, communication and interpersonal skills, including negotiation skills.
- Flexibility of thought and creativity to resolve complex problems, and an aptitude to drive new initiatives.
- Strategic awareness, including a detailed understanding of industry trends and best practice.
- Excellent project management and prioritisation skills, with a focus on delivering results.
Your new role:
As Publisher, you will oversee a significant portfolio of journals, actively managing and growing its quality, profile, market share and financial performance in line with Sage's strategy. This will include managing others in the team. You will manage relationships with external editors, learned societies and editorial boards; make decisions that impact positively on product development and profitability; and collaborate effectively with internal colleagues to achieve project goals and strategic objectives. You will play an important role in maintaining a positive team culture.

Indicative timeline for interviews:
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to 30 minute screening call in the w/c 3rd
March 2025. Candidates will be selected from that process for full interview in person during the w/c 17th March 2025.
