Job Description

We’re seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to play a crucial role in revitalizing our financial processes. This position offers an exciting challenge for a financial professional who thrives on creating order from complexity. You’ll have the opportunity to showcase your expertise by bringing our financial records up to date and implementing efficient systems for ongoing maintenance. Initially, you’ll work intensively to clean up and organize several years of backlogged records, transitioning to a more standard maintenance role once caught up. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys problem-solving, values accuracy, and wants to make a significant impact on a small business’s financial health.

Responsibilities
  • Spearhead the cleanup and organization of several years’ worth of financial records, bringing order to complexity
  • Perform and oversee a full range of bookkeeping tasks, including accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, transaction recording, invoicing, and payroll processing
  • Develop and implement efficient financial systems and processes to streamline operations
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance in all financial reporting, maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity
  • Collaborate closely with the owners to provide insights and recommendations for financial decision-making
  • Adapt to changing workloads, initially focusing on intensive catch-up work before transitioning to ongoing maintenance
  • Manage financial records for a dynamic team of 7 employees in the audio-video installation industry
Requirements
  • Proven experience in bookkeeping, with a preference for small business environments
  • Strong skills in financial record organization and cleanup, with the ability to bring order to complex financial situations
  • Proficiency in modern bookkeeping software and tools
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Adaptability and willingness to initially work up to 20 hours per week during the catch-up phase, with the flexibility to transition to approximately 10 hours per week for ongoing maintenance
  • Understanding of or interest in the audio-video installation industry is a plus
  • Commitment to confidentiality and handling sensitive financial information with discretion
