Job description

Flare is a breakout cybersecurity Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) Threat Intelligence company with a mission to empower organizations to take control of their data and protect their customers, employees and brand by shedding light on external threats. Our platform dynamically identifies high-risk threat exposure across cybercrime communities and the clear web to enable companies to better defend themselves.

Job Summary:

As a Threat Intelligence Researcher, you will be at the forefront of Flare's mission to identify, analyze, collect cyber threat intelligence. Your work will involve deep dives into the cybercriminal world, including Tor forums, Discord, Telegram and TOX, to gather actionable intelligence. You will analyze trends, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) of cyber adversaries to develop comprehensive threat profiles.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct advanced research into cybercrime forums and dark web sources to uncover emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and TTPs.
  • Work directly with clients to assist the CS team by providing compelling research reports.
  • Conduct investigations and track ongoing malicious campaigns across the dark web, illicit Telegram channels, and other sites.
  • Develop new innovative approaches to increase the external data discovery of an organization.
  • Analyze Flare’s data and OSINT data to conduct investigations and report on findings to Flare staff and customers.
  • Work directly with customers to explain events and report on novel threats.
  • Help with threat intelligence collection through research projects aimed at building proofs of concept for novel and innovative sources of threat data. 
  • Engage with the cybersecurity community to share insights and collaborate on threat intelligence efforts including on FS-ISAC threat briefings, webinars, and other events. 
  • Work directly with the marketing team to act as an expert resource and to provide training, virtual events, and other assistance. 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in cyber threat intelligence, with a proven track record of analyzing cyber threats and developing intelligence insights.
  • Deep understanding of cybercriminal ecosystems, including forums, marketplaces, and other platforms used for cybercrime activities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and provide concise, actionable intelligence.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on writing and the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in threat intelligence platforms (TIPs), SIEM tools, and other cybersecurity technologies.
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting languages such as Python and Bash for collection automation and integration.
