ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Communications Director, you will oversee all aspects of the Foundation’s communication efforts. Your primary responsibility will be to articulate and amplify the Algorand Foundation’s vision, values, and advancements within the blockchain and cryptocurrency space. This fully remote position requires a proactive leader with significant experience in crypto, blockchain, and decentralized technologies, combined with exceptional storytelling, brand-building, and strategic communication skills.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES 

Strategy Development:

•  Develop and execute a comprehensive global communications strategy aligned with the Foundation's goals and priorities.
• Position Algorand Foundation as a thought leader in the blockchain and cryptocurrency industry.

Media Relations & Public Relations: 

• Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers in the crypto and tech ecosystems.
• Select, manage, and evaluate the performance of external PR agencies to ensure alignment with organizational goals and optimal delivery of results.
• Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Foundation when necessary, handling interviews, press releases, and public statements.
• Oversee crisis communication strategies, ensuring timely and effective responses to issues that could impact the organization.

Content Creation:

• Oversee the development of high-quality content, including press releases, blogs, speeches, whitepapers, and social media campaigns.
• Collaborate with technical teams to translate complex blockchain concepts into accessible narratives for diverse audiences.

Internal Communications:

• Ensure consistent messaging and alignment across internal teams and stakeholders.
• Foster engagement and understanding of the Foundation’s mission, vision, and achievements among employees and community members.

Community & Ecosystem Engagement:

• Engage with the Algorand community and ecosystem participants through various communication channels, ensuring alignment with their needs and expectations.
• Lead initiatives that increase brand visibility and engagement in the broader blockchain industry.

Team Leadership:

• Build and manage a high-performing communications function, including external agencies and contractors, to support the Foundation’s goals.
• Mentor team members and ensure professional growth within the organization.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Experience:

• 8+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or marketing, with at least 3 years in the blockchain/crypto industry.
  
• Proven track record of creating and implementing successful communication strategies for global organizations or startups.
  
• Demonstrated experience in selecting, managing, and evaluating PR agencies to maximize impact and ensure ROI.

Skills:

• Deep understanding of the blockchain and cryptocurrency ecosystem, including trends, challenges, and opportunities.
  
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a talent for storytelling.
  
• Strong media relations experience, particularly within tech and crypto verticals.
  
• Experience managing crisis communications and sensitive reputational matters.
  
• Proficiency in using analytics tools to measure the impact of communication strategies.

Personal Attributes:

• Self-starter with the ability to operate autonomously in a fully remote environment.
  
• Strategic thinker with excellent organizational and leadership skills.
• Passionate about blockchain technology and its potential for global impact.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with decentralized organizations or DAOs.
  
• Background in journalism, public affairs, or related fields.
  
• Familiarity with multilingual or multicultural communication strategies.
