Job description

Our Journey at Keep

At Keep, we embarked on a mission with a powerful question: Why hasn't the banking experience caught up with the rapid pace of technology?

This continues to fuel our passion for reshaping the Canadian fintech landscape. We provide businesses with a comprehensive suite of cross-border banking services, offering everything from credit cards to deposit accounts, currency conversions, and revenue financing.

With a team of seasoned global startup veterans with successful exits, Keep is committed to leading the charge as Canada's next-generation fintech institution. Backed by VCs in the fintech sector, we're racing ahead, expanding our reach and impact like never before.

About the Role

We are seeking a Accounting Specialist to manage payroll, compliance, and financial operations across our entities in Canada, the US, and Mexico. Based in Mexico, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring payroll accuracy and tax compliance while also handling bookkeeping and financial reporting for our Mexican entity. Your expertise in accounting and local regulations will be pivotal in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficient financial operations across all jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Payroll Management:

    • Process payroll for our entities in Canada, the US, and Mexico, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local regulations.

    • Manage teammate registrations and ensure timely filing of payroll taxes across all jurisdictions.

  • Accounting for Mexican Entity:

    • Handle bookkeeping, financial reporting, and tax compliance for our Mexican entity, ensuring alignment with Mexican regulations.

    • Utilize local systems and tools to manage financial operations effectively.

  • Teammate Expenses Audit & Monitoring:

    • Review and monitor employee expenses to ensure compliance with company policies, such as Learning & Development (L&D) initiatives.

    • Generate reports to keep stakeholders informed of expense trends and policy adherence.

  • Taxes & Filings:

    • Oversee tax filings and compliance across Canada, the US, and Mexico, liaising with external advisors as needed.

    • Stay updated on changes in tax regulations and ensure timely implementation of necessary adjustments.

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is meticulous, proactive, and passionate about streamlining payroll and accounting processes. You’ll thrive in this role if you are:

  • A self-starter who enjoys working autonomously and thrives in a fast-paced, international environment.

  • Detail-oriented and skilled at juggling multiple responsibilities across different countries.

  • Strongly familiar with Mexican accounting and tax systems, with a foundational understanding of Canadian and US processes.

Requirements
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field (or current enrollment with relevant experience), with a strong foundation in accounting principles.

  • Familiarity with payroll and tax systems in Mexico, with additional knowledge of Canada and US systems being highly valued.

  • Solid understanding of accounting practices, financial reporting, and bookkeeping.

  • Experience or familiarity with local bookkeeping systems and regulations in Mexico.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines across multiple jurisdictions.

Why You Should Be Excited About This Role
  • Global Impact: Gain hands-on experience managing payroll and compliance across three countries, playing a key role in our growth story.

  • Local Expertise, Global Reach: While you’ll work closely on Mexican accounting, your role will provide insights into international operations, broadening your expertise.

  • Empowered Autonomy: Join a culture that values trust, innovation, and the ability to drive your work independently.

  • Team Collaboration: Work with an international team of passionate professionals, collaborating on meaningful financial and operational projects.

Why Join Keep?
  • Be part of a mission-driven company transforming financial services for SMBs in Canada, the US, and Mexico.

  • Enjoy a fully remote-friendly work culture that values diversity, inclusion, and flexibility.

  • Collaborate with a dynamic and talented team, committed to continuous improvement and professional growth.

  • Take on meaningful work where your contributions directly impact the success of a growing fintech company.

Why This Might Not Be a Good Fit
  • If you prefer a rigid, highly structured environment, our fast-paced and evolving setup may not be ideal for you.

  • If you’re not comfortable with ambiguity or rapid changes, this role might feel overwhelming.

  • Our culture thrives on collaboration—if you prefer working in isolation, you might find it challenging to adapt.

What’s the Interview Process Like?
  1. Chat with Deisy from our People Team (30 min): We’ll start by getting to know you, focusing on your background, experience, and fit for the role.

  2. Meet Malena, our Senior Accountant (45 min): Dive into the technical aspects of the role, discussing your experience in payroll, accounting, and compliance.
