General Position Overview
The Director of Fundraising & Donor Engagement plays a pivotal role in advancing EOS's mission by driving fundraising efforts, cultivating donor relationships, and shaping strategic initiatives. In collaboration with organizational leadership, this role ensures alignment between fundraising strategies and funder priorities, builds operational excellence, and crafts innovative approaches to achieve long-term sustainability. This role reports to the Chief Revenue Officer and has one direct report, the Manager, Fundraising and Donor Engagement.
Expected Outcomes
Develop and nurture a pipeline of funding from public funding sources, philanthropic funders, corporate donors and individual donors that represents $5M annually (40%)
- Cultivate and build new relationships with major donors, corporate sponsors, and foundation partners.
- Lead the development of grant proposals and manage the reporting process for funded projects.
- Proactively manage donor research using data and tools to identify potential donors and funders.
- Explore methods to engage the donor audience to effectively attract new partners.
- Manage documentation of all donor interactions in Salesforce.
- Conduct a minimum of 100 engagements and/or meetings in person or virtual for the purpose of qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, with progressively ambitious fundraising goals.
Annually, collaborate with EOS leadership to develop a comprehensive, actionable one-year strategic fundraising plan (35%)
- Establish clear metrics, benchmarks, and timelines to measure progress and success.
- Assess current operational strategies and identify areas for improvement in fundraising and donor engagement processes.
- Provide recommendations for strengthening EOS’s internal capacity to effectively manage fundraising campaigns and grantmaking efforts.
Develop compelling narratives and materials that inspire, support and resonate with potential funders and donors (25%)
- Tailor messaging and program offerings to align with funder priorities and effectively communicate impact to diverse donor audiences.
- Collaborate with EOS leadership and marketing to refine the organization's vision, mission, and value proposition while designing impactful communications that showcase EOS’s work effectively.

Required Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA’s):
- Proven experience in fundraising, donor engagement, or nonprofit development.
- Ability to build authentic relationships with donors and colleagues through phone, email, and virtual and in-person meetings.
- Strong background in writing and securing grants, refining value propositions, strategic messaging, and fundraising operations.
- Demonstrated ability to create strategic plans centered on fundraising with clear metrics for success.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience working with educational equity-focused nonprofits or similar mission-driven organizations is a plus.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with leadership teams and stakeholders.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet tight timelines.
Education & Relevant Experience:
- Experience in fundraising, donor engagement, and development, with a proven track record of securing major gifts, cultivating donor relationships, and driving revenue growth.
- Continuing education/training in equity programs preferred
Travel Requirements/Expectations:
- This job may require travel, including out-of-state travel, up to 30% of the time.
- A valid driver’s license is required

Work Structure
Remote/hybrid work: We believe that talent exists all over. We structure the work that allows our clients to work wherever they need to have fulfilled personal lives beyond work. We also provide an annual stipend to ensure staff have resources to create workspaces where they can focus and thrive. We ask staff to provide availability between 10-2 in their respective time zones to allow for collaboration and support.
Great paid time off and work flexibility: In addition to our 1-week office closure at the end of the calendar year and our 1-week office closure in the middle of the summer, we offer robust paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays to ensure our staff have a chance to recharge from the work of our mission.
Total Rewards
Highly competitive starting base pay: We aim to meet the market here. We pay our new hires very well for their depth of expertise. We set our salary bands at the 50th percentile of the market, and trend towards the 75th. We benchmark against the major metropolitan areas in the ed-tech sector to ensure our staff have compelling salaries no matter their region. We place people on bands based on their depth of expertise and competency.
