Job description

About Outdoorsy

Outdoorsy transformed access to the outdoors with the launch of its RV rental marketplace in 2015, and expanded to offer marketplace insurance in 2018. Today, Outdoorsy's partnership with its hosts has resulted in over 7 million travel days through RV rentals that are available in 4,800 cities across North America. Outdoorsy was named one of Fast Company’s ‘Most Innovative Companies’ in 2023 and celebrated over $3b in revenue in 2024.

Outdoorsy's team is inspired by a mission to restore our relationship with the outdoors and each other by inviting guests to Live Outdoorsy. Storytelling and community building has been an integral reason for our company’s growth and as we approach our 10th year we are looking to further invest in this area. This role will help tell the stories that inspire travel and appreciation of the outdoors for families everywhere.

About the role

Planning an RV trip shouldn't require juggling multiple tools and websites. Outdoorsy is revolutionizing the experience with a first-of-its-kind solution: bundled RV and campsite bookings in one seamless transaction. As a Product Manager, you’ll drive this innovative initiative, scaling the offering, delivering impactful projects, and working with diverse teams. If you thrive in fast-paced environments and want to shape the future of outdoor recreation, this role is for you.

This is a temporary position covering parental leave.

Responsibilities

  • Define Strategy & Enhance User Experience: Develop and execute a clear product strategy, incorporating seamless and premium user experiences into the roadmap to align with user needs and drive growth for the Outdoorsy Campground Partner Network.
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Track KPIs and other performance metrics to evaluate success and inform future decisions.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with engineering, design, operations, marketing, and sales to shape product strategies that create seamless customer experiences.
  • Enhance User Experience: Ensure premium, consistent, and frictionless interactions by leveraging technology.
  • Drive Innovation: Partner with internal and external tech teams to adopt and implement cutting-edge solutions that enhance guest engagement and operational efficiency.
  • Experiment & Validate: Identify and execute experimentation opportunities, including A/B testing and beta programs.
  • Project Management: Lead end-to-end project execution, from planning to delivery, while maintaining detailed project documentation and timelines.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the main contact for project updates, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Market Alignment: Leverage your expertise in RV rentals, marketplaces, or outdoor hospitality to ensure alignment with market trends and customer needs.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Jira Proficiency: You’re the ticket whisperer, effortlessly crafting clear tickets, tracking progress like a hawk, and keeping everyone—from the team to stakeholders—in the loop about deployments or delays.
  • Data-Driven: Familiarity with tools like Mixpanel and Optimizely to analyze trends and test hypotheses.
  • Communication Rockstar: You excel at clear, concise communication, from engineering teams to executive leadership.
  • Industry Insight: Hands-on knowledge of RV rentals, marketplaces, or outdoor hospitality, with the ability to anticipate and adapt to industry trends.
  • Technical Fluency: While not an engineer, you speak the language of engineering and understand infrastructure basics.
  • Time Management Wizard: You’re skilled at juggling priorities and delivering projects on time, every time.
  • Design-Informed: Experience navigating tools like Figma and collaborating effectively with designers.

Preferred Software Experience

  • Slack (hourly): We’re not looking for an admin, but you must be familiar with the platform’s features. Slack is our primary means of communication.
  • Jira/Confluence (daily): You don’t have to know how to customize a project, but you must be familiar with writing tickets, tracking their progress, and keeping parties informed about deployments or delays. Knowing how to write and organize specs/PRDs in Confluence is helpful.
  • Google (daily): We use Gmail, GCal, GMeets, and the entire G Suite. Do you know it well? Great.
  • Excel/Sheets (weekly): This is not a data science role, but we expect you to use spreadsheets for some essential math and basic forecasting.
  • Tableau (weekly): We use this powerful reporting suite to analyze our business, so familiarity with this tool will be helpful.
  • Mixpanel (weekly): The product team uses this often, and basic familiarity will make onboarding easier.

Figma (weekly): You do not need to be a designer, but we hope you can navigate a file and react to the design. Bonus points if you can wireframe in the tool.
