Job description

Job Summary:


We are seeking a highly skilled Azure SQL Database Administrator to manage and optimize our cloud-based database infrastructure. The ideal candidate will ensure high availability, security, and performance while integrating automation and DevOps practices. Experience with Redshift and Snowflake is a significant plus.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer and optimize Azure SQL Databases and other Azure-based database services.
  • Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and database scaling.
  • Implement robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Configure and enforce database security best practices (roles, permissions, encryption, compliance).
  • Automate database management using Azure DevOps, ARM templates, Terraform, and PowerShell.
  • Support development and operations teams with database design, integration, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure scalability, reliability, and adherence to cloud database best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging Azure database services, cloud innovations, and security trends.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in Azure SQL database administration.
  • Expertise in T-SQL, performance tuning, and query optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Experience securing databases through encryption, user role management, and compliance frameworks.
  • Proficiency in database automation, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database performance and security issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to support cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect, or Azure Data Engineer Associate).
  • Experience with Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and data integration using Azure Data Factory.
  • Familiarity with network security protocols, firewalls, and database access controls.
  • Proven track record supporting MarTech, Customer Data Platforms (CDPs), or large-scale cloud environments.
