This position is working remotely (from an agreed location) and with a preference for the Manchester area. 

 

JOB PURPOSE: 

 

The Senior Delivery Manager is responsible for ensuring the successful execution of multiple deliverables simultaneously within high-performing, multi-disciplined software engineering squads. 

 

This role involves coordinating with development teams, development managers, product owners, stakeholders, and external partners to define goals, establish team plans, and monitor progress. The Senior Delivery Manager is expected to anticipate potential impediments and proactively work to remove or minimize disruptions to the squads. 

 

Additionally, they will oversee risk and dependency management while fostering continuous improvement in delivery processes. A key focus of the role is ensuring that squads have the right skills, culture, and support mechanisms to deliver effectively. 

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

Squad & Project Leadership: 

 

  • Oversee multiple squads, ensuring they meet their deliverables effectively. 
  • Act as a facilitator rather than a direct line manager, ensuring alignment between squads and business objectives. 
  • Monitor squad progress, remove blockers, and escalate issues when necessary. 
  • Ensure squads adhere to Agile principles and follow best practices in project execution. 
  • Support squads in refining their work, managing capacity, and raising risks proactively. 
  • Assist in structuring and optimizing squads as the team scales, ensuring delivery efficiency. 
  • Collaborate on problem-solving initiatives to mitigate challenges that impact squad performance. 

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration: 

 

  • Collaborate with product and technology teams to ensure business and technical alignment. 
  • Foster open communication and cross-functional collaboration across the organization. 
  • Act as a liaison between squads and stakeholders to ensure clear expectations and alignment. 

 

Agile Delivery Frameworks: 

 

  • Lead Agile delivery squads using Scrum or other Agile methodologies. 
  • Ensure squads adhere to Agile best practices, addressing any process gaps. 
  • Facilitate Agile training, coaching, and workshops for squads and wider business units. 
  • Champion continuous improvement and self-development within squads. 
  • Work alongside engineering and development managers to track execution of roadmaps. 

 

 

Customer-Focused Development: 

 

  • Ensure development aligns with customer and prospect requirements, working closely with the product and technology teams to deliver value to the international markets. 

 

Risk and Dependency Management: 

 

  • Identify, track, and mitigate engineering and product-related risks. 
  • Ensure dependencies are documented, updated, and effectively managed. 
  • Support governance processes such as Go/No-Go decision-making. 
  • Provide clear reporting of risks, mitigation plans, and status updates for senior stakeholders. 

 

Planning and Execution: 

 

  • Oversee quarterly planning sessions, ensuring squads have a structured approach to capacity planning. 
  • Utilize data insights and forecasting to optimize resource allocation. 
  • Monitor progress against delivery milestones and key performance indicators. 
  • Ensure delivery tracking and reporting are maintained, ensuring alignment with business objectives. 
  • Support squad transitions and reorganization as the team scales. 

 

Technical Debt & System Maintenance: 

 

  • Collaborate with development managers to minimize technical debt while maintaining system scalability and security. 
  • Work on refining processes and best practices to enhance system efficiency. 
  • Provide insights on improving engineering processes to enhance team productivity.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Conflict resolution capabilities to mediate squad discussions and ensure constructive outcomes. 
  • Stakeholder management expertise to align technical and business objectives. 
  • Strong facilitation skills for team alignment and execution. 

 

Leadership skills: 

 

  • Ability to guide squads without direct line management. 
  • Proven mentorship experience to support Agile delivery squads. 
  • Strategic vision to balance long-term planning with immediate execution needs. 

 

Work experience: 

 

  • Min 2 years leading delivery teams, or projects, preferably within the Media industry 
  • Ideally experience with the Audio (Streaming) industry 
  • Experience embedding overarching processes to drive operational and delivery efficiency 
  • Experience creating and embedding overarching processes to drive operational and delivery efficiency at all levels 

 

Methodical competences (incl. IT/Language skills): 

 

  • Methodology Knowledge: Understanding of a variety of modern Agile methodologies.  
  • Proficiency in Jira, Confluence, and other project management tools. 
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are beneficial for global collaboration. 
  • Experience working with Agile metrics, reporting, and team performance tracking. 

 

Education: 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent level of experience
