Job description

As a Senior Developer Advocate at Apollo, you will lead our efforts in scaling developers’ success within the Scale Tier, enabling users to grow from free to paid tiers and ultimately to enterprise solutions. This role is focused on helping developers optimize their use of Apollo’s tools such as Apollo Studio and CLI commands, creating opportunities for growth and seamless transitions across tiers. As a key member of our team, you’ll collaborate cross-functionally to create technical content, engage with the developer community, and influence the product roadmap to better serve users. Your goal will be to establish an effective strategy to drive adoption, expand our user base, and support developers in their journey toward achieving scale.

At Apollo GraphQL, we’re revolutionizing API management, empowering businesses to build, ship, and scale their APIs easily. Our mission is to make application development easier, better, and accessible to more people. We build open-source tools and commercial services used by thousands of developers in production.

What you'll do
  • Work with developers using Apollo’s free-tier tools to help them successfully scale to paid tiers and enterprise solutions.
  • Develop and deliver engaging technical content, such as blog posts, tutorials, and webinars, to educate users on Apollo Studio, CLI commands, and best practices for scaling.
  • Develop demand-generation strategies to create and qualify leads for Apollo’s Scale Tier.
  • Work closely with Sales to identify high-potential users and manage smooth handoffs for enterprise deals.
  • Promote user success stories through initiatives like LinkedIn Live sessions and blog features.
  • Identify and amplify community contributions, celebrating achievements and inspiring others.
  • Partner with the Product team to shape onboarding workflows and features that address developer needs.
  • Align with Marketing to amplify developer-focused campaigns and events.
  • Track key performance indicators such as adoption rates, lead generation metrics, and user engagement to assess the success of initiatives.

  • Who you are
  • 3-5+ years of experience in Developer Relations (DevRel) and community engagement with additional relevant experience.
  • Background in SaaS or DevOps with strong technical expertise in command-line interfaces (CLI) and scripting.
  • Proven ability to create and grow engaged developer communities through compelling technical content.
  • Familiarity with demand-generation strategies and experience driving growth and adoption.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to work closely with Product, Sales, and Marketing teams.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Nice to have
  • Experience working with GraphQL and Apollo’s ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with onboarding workflows and strategies for user success.
  • Experience with LinkedIn Live or similar platforms for community engagement.
  • Background in working with startups or high-growth environments.
  • Experience in supporting AI builders.
  • At Apollo, we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation whilst ensuring consistency within the team in each country. We make hiring decisions based on your skills, experience, and our overall assessment of what we learned during the hiring process.
