We have an exciting remote opportunity for a Manager of Social Media & Content Strategy residing in one of the following states: AR, OK, MO, or TX.


POSITION SUMMARY

Summit Utilities is seeking a strategic and experienced leader to serve as Social Media & Content Strategy Manager. This role oversees the development, execution, and performance analysis of content and social media initiatives while ensuring alignment with brand voice and marketing objectives. Responsibilities include leading content strategy, managing engaging digital materials such as blogs, infographics, videos, and social media content, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

As the driving force behind social media campaigns, this position manages audience engagement, paid social advertising, and content distribution across various platforms. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Safety, Energy Efficiency, and Customer Service, plays a crucial role in maximizing marketing impact.

A key focus involves leveraging data-driven insights to refine strategies, enhance performance, and strengthen brand reputation. Close coordination with the Manager of Creative Services & Digital Marketing ensures seamless integration of social media analytics into broader marketing reports. Staying ahead of industry trends, platform updates, and best practices remains essential for driving engagement and fostering positive consumer sentiment.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead a team of two direct reports, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
  • Oversee the Customer Service Social Media Team, ensuring timely responses and training for escalated inquiries.
  • Act as a liaison across departments, proactively managing communications that impact customer engagement.

Content Strategy & Creation

  • Develop a comprehensive content strategy, defining themes and formats for different platforms.
  • Oversee the creation and curation of engaging, brand-aligned content for social media, blogs, newsletters, and digital channels.
  • Ensure messaging aligns with Safety, Energy Efficiency, ESG, Community Giving, Recruitment, and Customer Service initiatives.

Social Media & Digital Marketing

  • Plan and execute social media campaigns across platforms, including Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Manage paid social advertising, including budgeting, audience targeting, ad creation, and performance tracking.
  • Conduct audience research, tailoring content to consumer behavior, preferences, and engagement patterns.
  • Identify and prioritize key social media channels based on business goals and target demographics.

Performance Analysis & Optimization

  • Utilize analytics tools to monitor and report on campaign performance, engagement metrics, and ROI.
  • Work closely with the Senior Digital Marketing Specialist to integrate social media data into overall marketing reports.
  • Continuously refine content strategies based on insights, trends, and platform algorithm changes.

Collaboration & Brand Engagement

  • Partner with internal teams to ensure consistency in messaging and marketing efforts.
  • Oversee community management, fostering a positive online presence and strengthening brand reputation.
  • Stay up to date with social media best practices and emerging trends to enhance marketing effectiveness.


 
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field (Advanced degree or relevant certifications preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in social media management, content strategy, and digital marketing in a corporate or agency setting.
  • Proven leadership experience, including managing and developing a high-performing team.
  • Extensive experience in content creation and curation, including articles, blog posts, infographics, and video.
  • Deep understanding of major social media platforms, their audiences, and best practices.
  • Expertise in developing and executing content strategies aligned with business objectives and target audiences.
  • Strong background in social media advertising, including budget management, audience targeting, and performance tracking.
  • Proficiency in analytics tools to measure and report on content and campaign performance.
  • Experience in community management, brand reputation building, and audience engagement.
  • Strong collaboration skills, working effectively with cross-functional teams, including designers, copywriters, and marketing managers.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and content optimization for search engines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
