Job Title:   Director, US Tax

Position Overview 

The newly established U.S. Tax Director role addresses the Company's rapid growth and increasing U.S. Tax compliance and financial reporting demands. This key position, reporting to the VP of Tax, will lead a team of two, oversee all U.S. Tax compliance and provision matters, collaborate with business units for tax consultation, and support strategic initiatives. Responsibilities include managing compliance processes, financial reporting under ASC 740, and leading special tax projects. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage and mentor tax department staff and foster a collaborative team environment that encourages knowledge sharing and professional growth 

  • Review and approve tax calculations, and estimated payments, including quarterly and annual tax provisions and various tax computations, in accordance with ASC 740, Accounting for Income Taxes. 

  • Oversee the preparation and filing of U.S. tax returns and related documents to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations 

  • Manage U.S. international tax compliance process including BEAT, GILTI, FDII, foreign tax credits, and expense allocations. 

  • Oversee the R&D tax credit process and laisse with advisors to document qualified expenditures. 

  • Manage internal controls for all reporting and compliance workstreams. 

  • Develop and implement strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize savings, including managing foreign tax credits, deductions and incentives. 

  • Advise management of the impact of new tax laws and proposed legislation. 

  • Lead tax audits with tax authorities, ensuring accurate documentation and representation.  

  • Attend professional development and training sessions to stay current with tax legislative matters and technical issues. 

  • Spearhead the research and implementation of tax software or automation systems that enhance the efficiency and accuracy of tax preparation and reporting processes. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.  

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in corporate tax or public accounting, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.  

  • Highly proficient in US federal and state tax technical skills, with an emphasis on U.S. international tax. 

  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.  

  • Strong analytical, communication and leadership skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-tax stakeholders 

  • Outstanding people skills and experience leading and mentoring junior level team members. 

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Power PointStrong Excel skills required 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • CPA or MST preferred 

  • Pharmaceutical or medical device industry experience 

  • Experience with SAP, Alteryx or other automation tools is a plus. 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Travel less than 5% 
  • The preferred candidate will be local to Acton, MA.

Additional Information:

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $163,650.00 - $245,475.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
