General Description:
The Senior Director of Market Access (SRE) is accountable for the overall market access strategy and operations of BeiGene’s assets in Sub-Region Europe, supporting and contributing to the overall success of BeiGene’s business in the Region. This role is also operationally responsible for Poland, a key market for SRE.
SRE is a region comprised of 22 EU, EFTA, and EAA markets, including Poland (key market), Switzerland & Netherlands, a cluster of 5 Nordic countries (DK, FI, IS, NO, SE), and the CEEG cluster (Central & Easter Europe plus Greece, Cyprus and Malta – BG, CY, CZ, EE, GR, HR, HU, MT, LT, LV, RO, SK, SI).
The individual in this role will be a member of the SRE Leadership Team (LT). In CEEG, some or all of BeiGene’s portfolio may be commercialized by a distribution partner; this role is also accountable for leading or delegating to a team member of the SRE MAx team responsibilities for cross-functional management of such partner(s).
The person in this role partners with Global HEOR, and European commercial and medical affairs teams to deliver evidence-based HTA Reimbursement dossiers and tools. The person in this role leads negotiations in markets for which s/he is operationally responsible and works with others on the MAx team to ensure pricing and negotiation strategies are prepared in advance of negotiations, seeking as needed approval of pricing strategy from European and potentially Global level pricing committees.
The Senior Director MAx, SRE is accountable for providing to the SRE LT on-going Market Access insights that inform commercial strategy and forecasting in the Region. S/he will determine who from the SRE market access (MAx) team represents SRE MAx on the “3M” (Medical, Marketing and Market Access) teams for BeiGene’s Solid Tumor and Heamatology franchises; the “3M” team will periodically provide input to the Global Commercial, Strategy and Operations organization to inform Global Commercial inputs to BeiGene’s Global Products Team.
Finally, the person in this role engages with a broader group of HEOR, market access and corporate and public affairs stakeholders within Europe with the aim of cross-functionally defining priorities for the SRE and to some extent European region.
Role Expectations:
- Work cross-functionally to communicate the BeiGene access, value, and reimbursement perspectives to drive and align commercial strategy development;
- Monitor market access and health policy environment, identifying early new trends, and educating SRE LT and Country Managers on their strategic, operational, and financial implications;
- Drive access and value related projects such as landscape assessments, payer market research, payer advisory boards and general guidance on local strategies;
- Develop a holistic local market access strategy built on solid insights of local environment and customers, integrating key levers such as pricing, clinical and economic evidence, policy shaping, multi-stakeholder engagement;
- Lead and/or oversee customization of Global Value and Access (GVAP) deliverables to local SRE market needs, driving and being accountable for P&R timelines in line with operational and long-term planning;
- Provide input to GVAP organization regarding pipeline products and/or implications of in-line brand indication expansion opportunities;
- Develop outreach and engagement plan for key payers and their influencers Create and maintain a strong contact network with key players and their influencers Negotiation with all levels of national payers;
- Develop innovative pricing and value based contracting models to optimize the acceleration of reimbursement approval;
- Provide local needs input into EU pricing strategy for current and future portfolio Customize EU pricing strategy, propose local pricing positions to be presented and agreed;
- Ensure HEOR programs support the above strategies to facilitate pricing, reimbursement, and uptake;
- Oversee MAx-related operational execution of brand or company changes (e.g., transitioning to a new formulation or navigating implications of Corporate decisions pertaining to the whole of the Company.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of pharmaceutical industry and +5 years in market access positions (ideally country market access positions)
- Extensive experience in pricing and reimbursement in the scope of SRE countries is a must. Demonstrated success and experience supporting oncology product pre-launch, launch and post- launch in the selected market is also a must.
- Experience with affiliate and distribution partner business models.
- Demonstrated success building / maintaining a well-functioning team capable of collaborating effectively with multiple stakeholders in a matrixed environment.
- In depth knowledge and understanding of the payer systems and reimbursement challenges and opportunities in SRE countries.
- Direct experience in HTA dossier submissions and negotiations in the selected markets
- Demonstrated experience negotiating drug pricing and reimbursement conditions with public administrations and health authorities.
- Demonstrated experience in economic model adaptation for national/regional and local submission Demonstrated ability to translate strategic insights into practical, well-designed HE and outcomes research initiatives to support value of brands.
- Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration and out-of-the-box thinking.
- Agile, strategic thinking and ability to develop innovative reimbursement/pricing strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including ability to synthesize data and deliver a clear overview of market access strategy, opportunity and risks.
- Oncology market access experience required.
- Fluency in English and knowledge of other languages this role is operationally responsible for.
