Job description

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To plan and manage the pickup/delivery resources of the TGE Intermodal and Specialised Branch located at Altona. The role will be responsible for supporting the Operations Manager to ensure the safety, compliance, operational and financial performance of the transport operation. A large portion of this role will be centred around debriefing and compliance management of the driver group and entry of breaches into the safety/compliance management system.

The overall performance will be dependent on the operations controller maintaining systems and standards to ensure compliance with the TGE way.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate driver workforce planning and execute the day-to-day pickup/delivery tasks, maintaining customer expected DIFOT

  • Support the operation on a day-to-day basis by making operational decisions based on the overall business objectives and coordinating available resources to ensure cost effectiveness

  • Clearing and checking of previous days driver run sheets and mass sheets to ensure they meet NHVR and TGE compliance standards, with use of third party software

  • Debriefing of the driver group and follow up discussions with drivers where breaches are identified

  • Incident Management System (TRAC) – ensure preliminary incident reporting is entered in TRAC within a 24-hour period for both safety and compliance issues

  • Learn all functions of Fleet Controlling and be responsible for being backup Fleet Controller

  • Learn other functions of the fleet office (bulk tanks, inventory control, planning) to support the TGE Intermodal team as required

  • Ensure all staff on site are appropriately inducted and trained by coordinating with the Branch and Operations Manager to ensure all staff have been trained appropriately before commencing duties

  • Maintain a basic understanding and working knowledge of all legislative compliance requirements (inclusive of environmental) that impact the business (training will provided where required)

  • Ensure that site HSE is adhered to by conducting regular safety conversations, toolbox meetings, identifying and escalating hazards, and ensuring entry to TRAC system

  • Ensuring appropriate use of driver TDA units to accurately track driver fatigue and movements
