INTECON, LLC is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Security Administration Specialist to support AFWERX’s Security Branch (RGOS). This role is responsible for security management, information protection (IP), anti-terrorism/force protection (AT/FP), compliance with export control laws, classified information handling, and personnel security administration. The selected candidate will work closely with AFWERX leadership, security personnel, and external stakeholders to ensure adherence to DoD and Air Force security protocols while safeguarding sensitive information and technologies.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Security Administration Specialist will:
- Provide administrative and security management support to AFRL/RGOS, ensuring compliance with DoD, USAF, and Major Command (MAJCOM) policies.
- Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), analyzing security challenges, developing alternative solutions, providing recommendations, and preparing reports.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. State Department International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 CFR Parts 120-130), the Arms Export Control Act, and Defense Trade Security Initiatives.
- Prevent unauthorized foreign national access to U.S. Government (USG) facilities and sensitive information unless explicitly approved by the USG.
- Assist in maintaining secure facilities, responding to security alarms and incidents in accordance with AFRL Operating Instructions (OIs).
- Receive and secure classified information, ensuring proper handling, storage, and dissemination of sensitive materials.
- Conduct independent security studies and analyses, providing risk assessments and mitigation plans as required.
- Support the Chief of Information Protection in integrating security program requirements into all AFRL/RGOS program areas.
- Prepare, coordinate, and maintain DoD Contract Security Classification Specifications (DD Form 254s) for security compliance and classification guidance.
- Assist in developing and updating Security Classification/Declassification Guides for AFRL programs.
- Provide technical security advisory support to senior program leaders, ensuring adherence to the overall protection architecture.
- Participate in security working groups, DoD security briefings, and interagency security coordination meetings.
- Ensure compliance with National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), NISPOM Supplement, and Joint Air Force-Army-Navy Manuals.
- Develop and distribute implementing security guidance, ensuring AFRL teams understand classified information protection and security requirements.
- Oversee the receipt, documentation, and secure storage of classified materials per DoD policies.
- Provide personnel security support, assisting with background checks, clearance processing, and security access validation for AFRL programs.
- Manage security incident reporting, ensuring investigations are conducted, findings are documented, and mitigation strategies are implemented.
- Administer and execute annual security self-inspections, ensuring compliance with internal security policies.
- Maintain and update security documentation, processes, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for AFRL programs.
- Oversee security education programs, ensuring all personnel receive annual training on security protocols, threat awareness, and classified handling procedures.
- Provide security support for classified conferences, visitor access requests, and personnel security processing.
- Maintain electronic records in security management databases, tracking personnel access, security violations, and clearance investigations.
- Manage access to the Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet), ensuring timely and secure communication handling.
- Support inspector general (IG) inspections, assisting in data organization, meeting setup, and compliance audits.
- Assist the Operations Security (OPSEC) Manager in developing, maintaining, and overseeing the AFRL OPSEC program.
- Provide administrative support for risk assessments, security briefings, and classified data protection efforts.
- Monitor security incident investigations, ensuring proper documentation and corrective actions.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Homeland Security, Criminal Justice, Information Security, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in Risk Management, Intelligence Studies, or Cybersecurity.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in security administration, information protection, or classified information management, preferably within a military or government environment.
- Strong knowledge of DoD, USAF, and AFRL security policies, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Experience in anti-terrorism/force protection (AT/FP), operations security (OPSEC), and information security (INFOSEC).
- Proven ability to prepare and manage security classification/declassification guides, DD Form 254s, and facility security plans.
- Experience conducting security risk assessments, compliance audits, and classified information protection plans.
- Familiarity with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and Arms Export Control Act (AECA).
- Strong background in personnel security clearance processing, security investigations, and security training program execution.
- Knowledge of security management databases, SIPRNet messaging systems, and classified material handling procedures.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-security environment with strict compliance protocols.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
Certifications and Training
Preferred certifications:
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
- Industrial Security Professional (ISP) Certification
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) (preferred but not required)
- DoD 8570.01-M Security+ Certification
- Facility Security Officer (FSO) Training
Proficiency in:
- Security management tools (DISS, JPAS, e-QIP)
- SIPRNet and classified communication protocols
- Government security frameworks (NISPOM, ICD 705, OPSEC)
- Automated Information Systems (AIS) security operations
Specialized Training in:
- DoD and USAF security compliance
- Threat mitigation and risk assessment
- Security clearance processing and personnel security investigations
Security Clearance
Active Secret Clearance required, with the ability to obtain Top Secret (TS/SCI) if needed.
