Job Description

Leveraging your customer service mindset and health sector knowledge, the Organizational Performance (OP) Manager works hand-in-hand with hospital leadership to transform clinical and/or business operations to deliver dramatic improvements in hospital efficiency, productivity, and quality of patient care services. Your passion for data-driven solutions and ability to leverage statistical and analytical tools, such as SAS, Tableau, R and Python, will help improve data literacy across the organization and support the OP team in developing effective presentations and visualizations to support decision-making by clinical and executive leadership. With a proven track record of developing high performing teams, your strong coaching and mentoring skills will be a key asset as you provide formal and informal leadership throughout the organization.

Reporting to the Director, Organizational Performance, you will be a part of an engaged, highly motivated team of problems solvers and data analysis experts who are dedicated to provide data-driven advice and solutions to the most challenging problems and opportunities at William Osler Health System. The successful incumbent will collaborate with clinical teams, medical leadership and staff physicians, and other leaders across the organization. Working with partners in Finance, Human Resources, Quality & Patient Safety, and other enabling services, you will be leading the optimization of a wrap-around service model to support Clinical Programs and Hospital Operations leadership. In addition, the role develops and maintains close working relationships with various external stakeholders (e.g., Ministry of Health (MOH), Ontario Health (OH), and Canadian Institute of Health Information (CIHI)) and other health care sector partners (e.g., Ontario Health Teams (OHT), Other Hospitals, Academic Institutions, Research Institutes, and Public Health).

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the OP consulting team to ensure excellence in customer service, continuous performance improvement including introduction of innovative problem solving techniques and processes to achieve organizational effectiveness, quality excellence and health system leadership
  • Develop and maintain strong engagement with clients and key stakeholders to understand operational accountabilities, strategic goals, patient service needs, and clinical/business processes to continuously improve OP consulting team performance
  • Participate in the development of organizational expertise in: national and provincial case weighting system (i.e. CMG+ and HIG); externally available analytical product and tool offerings i.e., CIHI Portal and Intellihealth; and hospital/health system performance measures (e.g., CIHI’s YourHealthSystem.com, Ontario Health’s Quality Improvement Plan, Access to Care and Pay for Results initiatives)
  • Facilitate corporate monitoring, understanding and use of corporate balance scorecard, hospital services accountability agreements, and Quality Improvement Plan metrics
  • Support and consolidate program and departmental performance variance analysis to create a corporate view of Osler's performance including insightful analysis such as identification of trends, patterns and relationships within data and opportunities for improvement and strategic foresight
  • Collaborate with internal and external colleagues to ensure client success and health system effectiveness
  • Support the development of a data quality culture through on-going partnership with Information Services and data custodian through the corporation

Qualifications
  • Master degree in science, economics, engineering, business or math
  • Demonstrated focus on health administration, health information, health policy or equivalent, or previous experience in a hospital decision support environment preferred
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills with proven track record of developing high performing team
  • Experience in planning and managing multiple, complex projects involving changes to business processes, workflow, and training of staff and/or clients for the changes
  • Experience working directly with senior administration and medical leaders to support information and analysis required to inform organizational planning, manage hospital performance, identify improvement opportunities, and support senior level decision-making
  • Working knowledge of hospital sector administrative data sets such as discharge abstract database and National Ambulatory Care Reporting System, including knowledge of Canadian and Ontario hospital reporting requirements and funding methodologies (strong asset)
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete multiple assignments simultaneously adapting to change quickly
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service with an ability to initiate and model positive change
  • Experience working within a multi-site health care organization is a strong asset
  • Experience with hospital information systems (HIS) such as Meditech and EPIC is an asset
  • Experience with reporting and analytical tools such as Crystal Reports, PowerBI, SAS, Tableau, R and Python is an asset

Hours: Currently days (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

This is a Hybrid Role: Roles that function remotely, but require essential, regular onsite weekly work and travel to multiple sites when required

Annual Salary:
Minimum:  $113,061
Maximum: $141,336
