Summary of Job Duties:
This individual will be responsible for communicating with the radiation oncologists, radiation therapist, physicists, and other department leads. Serves as liaison between dosimetry, physics, physicians, simulation therapists, staff therapists and other sections within the departments. Some of the leads other responsibilities will include; assigning workloads to optimize productivity, developing policies and procedures, and mentoring new graduates and new hires. Also responsible for providing physicians and therapists with treatment planning, calculations, quality assurance planning, constructing custom blocks as needed for patient treatment, taking required measurements on patients, consulting with physicians and other therapists in planning and delivering patient treatments and maintaining quality control.

Serves as liaison between dosimetry, physics, physicians, simulation therapists, staff therapists, and other sections within the departments.
Based on dosimetry specialized disease sites and clinical needs, assigns workload appropriately and fairly to ensure optimal productivity and quality is achieved from their work.
Works with proton dosimetrist(s) to provide support for comparison planning. Develops policies and procedures about medical dosimetry and treatment planning services.
Evaluates and make recommendations for new software products impacting medical dosimetry and oversees implementation/staff training.
Meets with the chief of physics/dosimetry, and reports regularly to discuss and resolve issues related to dosimetry.
Establishes dosimetry quality assurance and/or quality management programs, as needed.
Assists physicists with routine clinical tasks and development of new treatment planning techniques and protocols.
Participates in the teaching of dosimetry and radiation therapy to residents, and students.
Performs the clinical functions of the staff medical dosimetry role. Assists in difficult cases or unusual cases of treatment planning.
Performs treatment planning and dose calculations using computers, calculators, and manual techniques for external beam treatment planning.
May perform other duties assigned.
